;) Dogs can certainly be 'for life' but it may not be with the first, or second owner! if this dog is not of a type/temperament the owners will/can bond strongly with, then rehoming sounds a good outcome for them. For the dog left behind though..not so good.

Nothing springs to mind .. but if he is liable to have diarrhoea .. maybe postpone the surgery ?

I appreciate a lot of what greytmate had to say , not all, but a lot. This has been an interesting thread :) I was directly under the shower of maternal feelings, when they were tipped out of the pot .... new babies, and toddlers, and preschoolers ... tend to melt somewhat when I hold /smell a new baby ..and thoroughly enjoy the company of toddlers . ..but it is nice to give them back ;)

We were!! ;) We had a large totally enclosed cot /crate , plenty big enough for a toddler and beyond. It was enclosed with flyscreen..and lockable ..totally insect and kid proof!! We each slept in it until we were ready for proper beds.

I can't see them........

Sarplaninac are few & far between.... what does it say on her pedigree ? She should have a pedigree and originate from a registered breeder - that is the only way you can be certain of her parentage.

Years ago when I had an itchy dog .. when I could, I would take him to (back then) one of those 'new fangled' holistic vets ... and he would get vit C injections - which did help.
