This is so sad. From what I understand of your post is that poor rafii has a condition whereby his windpipe just will not let the air in ..and it won't suddenly 'get better', by the sounds of it. :( he is old, and his tissues are not going to stand up to the trauma .. he will already be suffering from lack of oxygen , and will be stressing and feeling panicky, not being able to breathe...unfair on a poor old dog. for you ..and I hope raffi finds his rest quickly, in your loving arms , with no more fighting ...

That's a thought . have you tried providing him with lots of bedding /coat, but have him safely tethered ? he may feel more comfortable being able to move around a bit more than he can in his crate? *shrugs* Just a thought.... I like the look of that warmbodymat , and the bun warmers seem a good idea. for dog beds ..provided not any more than one thin layer is covering them . Might get one for my geriatric cat! :) Thanks for the link .

MTS. Not at all! What people are saying is to feed her a better food , to help your sister realise this , and, most important, to get the dog to a vet when you can. The dog had gastro , did not get any diagnosis, and has not really recovered. This really does need a thorough investigation , and I'm glad you are taking her on monday :) The dog may have a foreign body , or something physically changed/injured, or a 'bug' which needs drugs to kill it off . As suggested, if she is eating goodo's then feed her goodo's :)

best thing you could/can do is help rehome the dog . Your friend is obviously not in the right frame of mind to have a dog at present , and everyone will be more calm once dog has a new home.

back to the vet, I think...and NO more treats ..just her normal food.

There could be any number of reasons why she is not gaining weight ..and a thorough vet check will help...as in blood tests/worm count etc. Supercoat and canned muck will not put weight on ..and is possibly not ideal after a bout of gastro, either What caused the gastro? What treatment did the vet give her then? The two could well be related . If she looked more unwell after worming , please do not fiddle with any more home remedies..but get her checked out from head to toe to find a cause. Hope she is feeling better soon.
