  1. No more cropping ... I love the colours:) All I'd think about (and not really know how to change) is all the highlight/bright bits on the car L of image. that seems to catch my eye first , and detract a bit from the gorgeous boy and dog :)
  2. padraic .. have you started a new thread in the training forum? That may be easiest .... then all your questions etc are in one place :)
  3. For me, I notice threads with specific things .... eg My dog is..... opening teh fridge and stealing steak can anyone help? or : 'need recommendations for xyz in ...jobsville' . - that sort of thing.
  4. I had a dog with multiple allergies and he was on prednil for most of his 12 yr life .. dose was manipulated .....
  5. Me ? I ask on D O L :D !!!!! D O L has such a wide range of members , and they include trainers/behaviourists. Not sure what I'd do if there was no D O L ... :p Guess if D O L wasn't here, I would start by asking instructors at dog clubs etc..... and work on from there . I certainly wouldn't just 'cold call' people, though.
  6. Some of the best dog behaviourists I have ever met were that before there were official titles, and before there was an insistence of a piece of paper . this is very true. yes, a degree like this provides the student with a great toolkit - BUT working with dogs, observing dogs,/adapting methods to suit individual situations , plus empathising /understanding/communicating well with PEOPLE is what is so important. It is the people who are the key. Family dynamics, communication styles, yes, and physical attributes all are so important in the dog /owner relationship and a dog's behaviour. There are also all the other things which can have an effect on how a dog sees its world ....things in its environment- and if these are not taken as part of a whole, there may be no 'going forward' . A person can have a head full of behavioural diagnoses and possible solutions - sadly, if they are an inefficient communicator ,a poor observer, and do not enjoy working with people.... they will also be a waste of money! So, if I were to recommend - I would be working on clients' explanations of what has been provided, and whether this help has been useful in managing the problem . I would also look at techniques used by the professional , and I would try & ask others in the field their opinion .
  7. here is some reading for you ..it may help understanding what's happening ..obviously it does not specifically apply to you , but you may pick up some ideas. :) LINK LINK LINK LINK ..training begins at home in the yard ..so that by the time you encounter other dogs , your dog thinks of YOU as the only thing worth paying attention to :p
  8. This is not what one expects from a good , respected behaviourist ...and what was this person's claim to fame ? Did they have their own business> were they recommended to you by satisfied customers> what did you find when you looked them up on the internet?
  9. your dog, your choice of treatment ..and you are paying the vet ..... :)
  10. Hi :) What trouble do you have on an ordinary collar ? What training classes have you attended? How often do you practice obedience & stuff each day?
  11. A bad flea allergy reaction can be triggered by ONE flea bite all I can think of is a sort of sugar/starch could be making him itch ..and maybe a protein could cause the diarrhoea - either way his whole immune system may need looking at .... I see 'vets all natural' is reading ..... they may have some advice.
  12. This reads as being tricky. the diarrhoea while on the fish worries me more than the itching ...he may not be getting the correct balance of nutrients, which can then upset his system even more . Do you have a university vet clinic anywhere near you? if it were me , that's probably where I'd be heading ..with as much documented stuff as possible . *fingers crossed*
  13. Awwwww And why wouldn't she love them? I do :) esp this one
  14. :) Steady hands/balance - excellent! C'mon ,all those who produce interesting and emotive and clear shots ..... you are good at this - tell us what makes you proud! :)
  15. :) ..Not what others think/say ....what do you feel is/are your best attributes /skills? :D there are so many wonderful images presented here..everyone has a set of skills !! What I feel fairly comfortable with during my macro/insect 'hunting' ..are patience, learning what the subject of my attention is doing/may do, and checking backgrounds. .I really prefer to let the camera do the rest :p
  16. You certainly are catching great action and facial expressions/eye direction!
  17. My roommates ... nothing fancy ..but they like it.
  18. I am glad it helped ..and yes, you should maybe patent it to provide help for other very caring and responsible owners :) Thinking of you today . Take care .
  19. This is so sad. From what I understand of your post is that poor rafii has a condition whereby his windpipe just will not let the air in ..and it won't suddenly 'get better', by the sounds of it. :( he is old, and his tissues are not going to stand up to the trauma .. he will already be suffering from lack of oxygen , and will be stressing and feeling panicky, not being able to breathe...unfair on a poor old dog. for you ..and I hope raffi finds his rest quickly, in your loving arms , with no more fighting ...
