  1. photos/postcards of all the different places/towns/beaches ? :) If they are near a city ..then maybe an experience thing like these on SCOOPON ? or could everyone draw/craft some sort of HUG , and send?
  2. ..Don't think keeping a puppy in an enclosed 60cm square cupboard is ideal, either ... you have a corgi, right? They have pretty good yippers !They are also very smart ..and like to be busy. What I suggest is to make his crate/pen , the BEST place ever...the ONLY spot he gets the really good toys/treats /food . Also start right away on NILIF - he gets what he wants ..but he needs to 'work' for it :)
  3. :) there is also lots of information on this site AMRRIC
  4. pup does look older than 8 weeks. pup may have escaped and been wandering for a week or so .... pup is NOT THEIRS to keep . ..and what are they going to do after the 6 mths? ..and I would be querying the vet's response ... as it is not legally their dog , and, AFAIK he can not PTS a dog without trying to obtain owner permission
  5. ..and this is also why a pup/dog learning what "toilet"/"quick"/"do wee" means they should do is invaluable ..it earns them praise/treats, and enables both owner and pup/dog to be out in the weather in as short a time as necessary .. Often here at night there are several dogs, and two cats all busy toileting before bed ..all respond to the cues/command ..and it makes life much more relaxed :)
  6. but this could not be done without learning the right way (is there a right way?) long term,or on a dog left alone - could it? the mind boggles
  7. jaybeecee- I was also going to suggest you provide her with some feedback from our comments - it may help her.?
  8. until it heals, every time that tail connects with something ,it will re open...and that, of course slows down healing maybe get someone to show you how to properly bandage it?
  9. Oh..didn't read the thingy...apologies. edited!!
  10. I didn't complete it ...odd questions, and again, no raw option...I could not answer accurately.
  11. Hmmmm.... all I can think of is perhaps she threw up the dog roll earlier..then went back & 'cleaned up" ?
  12. :( AFAIK ... and I am only posting about what I've seen some knuckling over can improve with lots and lots of work...but worse case scenario .... nerve damage, and loss of sensation, knuckling/dragging may lead to skin being rubbed off, and all sorts of infections, etc .....and probable amputation If your friend is concerned about this outcome, and needs to make decisions , I would advise a full assessment be done at a university vet hospital
  13. maybe owners of dogs should be required to take out an insurance policy ..so people like this poor girl can have some bills covered.
  14. :) In MtS's part of the world , in january, dogs pant almost continually cos it is so darn hot - and obviously moreso when they are enjoying a play with company . Here,we have currently 7 watering points..under bushes, on verandahs..indoors... but there are lots of camera angles where these are invisible. We also have tap /dribbling hose lickers ..I think they watch the birds and then see what the fuss is about :p MtS what a fantastic backyard !! Nice to see plenty of room for running play :)
  15. reading your post again.... presumed a stray shows no reaction when called was not seen to willingly interact with people.... not sure how she was judged entire....but could be pregnant... vacc status unknown ..may be a carrier of who knows what bug not a good resume, really.....
  16. Ohh , sorry, Pebbles. I remember you saying how she was getting frail ..she had a lovely long life ..... you did well.
  17. From this side of the screen- I would suggest looking for a foster dog .... This girl may never gain in confidence around people, which may show as fear aggression under pressure. NOT what anyone wants :( As said, the rescue dog does need to be thoroughly checked for her attitude to other dogs !! Is the old dog OK with other dogs on its territory? Is it actually fair to the old dog to introduce an unstable totally unknown dog into the mix? Does the old dog want to have to assert itself ..to share , to be annoyed with a young dog wanting to play???
  18. he probably has an upset tummy ..same as human tummies gurgle when they are full of gas, or are irritated and moving differently to normal. Just make sure he has water... no more food tonight... and be prepared to rush him outside . if he gets worse, obviously call the vet . Hope it's just a short lived problem :)
  19. Find a good reproductive vet ..and get her hormone levels tested - then you'll know if she is in season, or if there is something else happening. No ..it is not a 'normal' thing . Get her thoroughly blood tested /swabbed etc to rule out any nasties . Better that, than mate a bitch with a health problem , I think.
  20. Some lighter coloured pups do look very highly coloured in face/feet ..I've never paid much attention ..they almost look like they've been in teh beetroot :p
