  1. male and female dynamics.... VERY different kettle of fish . two bitches ... totally different story
  2. Tread carefully. Don't start coming down on the big girl and making her resentful. Remember...YOU are the human boss. Who is top dog, the dogs decide, not you....
  3. Oh..and ..no he doesn't, not yet. He is just a baby puppy who is missing his family and is needing comfort at night after sleeping in a familiar place, and probably with his littermates for his whole life. His world changed ..and he gets upset.
  4. ..and then you gave in ? so ..next time , it will be an hour . he is TRAINING YOU . the thing is if NO ONE responds EVER ..he WILL STOP . eventually . It's logical. that means NO ONE . not at 11 pm , 2 am ..not at 5 am .... Every time you go to him ... he knows that you will respond to his noise . promise the family something wonderful ..if they persist and be strong . Buy earplugs , promise a weekend of cooking their favourite things, or buying a BIG take away dinner .... the other thing is to do as suggested , and put him in yr room
  5. Thanks for the info it sounds as if there is some tension rumbling away constantly...and changing things by going away/returning can exacerbate the various concerns As bitches can have VERY SERIOUS fights ..and as there are such huge size differences , I also would recommend a GOOD, Recommended and researched trainer to assess and advise you . If you give an area ..someone here may know of one who is not a waste of time & money like so many can be
  6. Oh..all right then .... Sharing... Grape Marc ( steamed grape seed/skins left over after wine making) is good drought feed for hungry sheep (and euros ) I deliberately took a walk the other week to capture colours ...with surrounds of red and dry ... any bit of colour ..even a single plant becomes something spirit -lifting peach blossom/wisteria/clivia/bluebells and an un named succulent hanging basket Dags with his new Syn-Flex collar and err..another euro ..a youngster
  7. males , or females ? have they grown up together ? how old are they ? What are they like when being fed ? When out for a walk ...is this every day that they get aggro? Do they share a bed? When out walking..do they roll in things? What are they like with dogs when out walking ? How are they both when strange dogs walk/run past their section of fence at home ? The more info you give, the more chance we have of maybe coming up with ideas,. ;) and what is a "mini kelpie" ? They sound like the "Odd Couple" LOL
  8. Lovely shares @PossumCorner lots of interesting neighbours . pretty cat Glad she demolished the rats for you . LOVE the spoonbill shot .... thank you .
  9. I know nothing about Maremma ..but perhaps being female she will be slightly smaller ? Also ..if they have no registered pedigrees .., sadly YOU have no guarantee of them being purebred , despite seeing alleged parents. They could, theoretically be any crossbreed .
  10. That's wonderful news...for the boy's parents ..they now have something tangible on which to pin memories/affection , and of course for Merlin , who has "home" ..without her best mate ..but next best thing
  11. for someone to whom numbers mean nowt ... can this be simplified or transferred to what an actual collar does or ... something ? Pls ?
  12. ...but that's sensible ! It'd be like restricting speeds on cars ....
  13. That photo is a big OOPS if you really don't want another dog - you realise that, don't you ? they look very relaxed together....
  14. it is always an idea to have baby gates and some cleared cupboard tops etc that the cats know about so they can have a dog free space . Sometimes communication problems can lead to a chase if no-one's around !
  15. They look pretty impressive ..and lovely to see them working on that NZ page . Nice also to read that birds obtained are used as food ..hunting as it should be .
  16. Heartily agree with this. I am so very sorry that you are facing a trip down this road so soon make the next weeks as full of good things as possible . Favourite places , foods and cuddles . Good pain relief to make it easier for you all ... Lots of happy photos before he becomes really miserable , have the vet booked to come to your house perhaps . Take care ...
