yep ..and it's the fright/suddenness which makes ME yelp :p

using an e collar as a TRAINING tool is different to the invisible fence idea. Dogs' necks are also tougher than our arms/hands :) The ecollar`, when used properly in training is set at the lowest level which causes a dog to notice it . In most dogs, because it IS an unfamiliar sensation ..this can be a light "bzzt" ..like a flea bite .This then enables the trainer/owner to get the dog focussed ... Prong collars, if my memory is correct ...it's been a long time since I used one also do not hurt when used correctly ..yes, they firmly pinch/poke all the way 'round a dog's neck ..but it is not painful as such ..not like a smack on teh nose, or a flick with a leash. All training aids do not inflict real pain WHEN USED CORRECTLY, as part of a training program.

Widget woke up suddenly and she was a bit bewildered ..and Bernie heard a door open ..which MUST mean food!! :) She gets on so well with our cats ..& Mr.Wilson knocks her over on a regular basis ... but when she's 'working' ..she's my best feral cat hunter .She does not play .

Widget, and old Bernie cat . This was meant be a really cute sleeping shot ..but as I shoved the camera out the door- they woke up . This bed is on a back porch area ..just for anyone who feels like using it ..there is ooodles of sunny spots outside ... esp on a nice day ..but this looked lovely.

I know of quite a few businesses in town with yard/guard dogs ... and , although the dogs don't get walked along streets' have access to owners' houses etc- they don't have a bad life . One pair in particular wander around the business during work hours greeting customers ..then are left in the yard overnight/at weekends. they are well cared for and are very happy with their lot - having known nothing else...and , trust me are NOT approachable when on guard Another I know of is on a long chain during business hours ..and can be patted etc by customers- just don't try it if his owner's not present ! A produce store had a dane guard ... she was very effective , too! she saw lots of people during business hrs ... was extremely protective of 'her' building/yard and was much appreciated. I love how these guys switch 'on'& 'off '..and think there are many dogs worse off...many 'yard/guard' dogs do not have any sort of 'social' life , or basic care, I know...

..then there's roo tails, oxtails (used for soup/stew), turkey wings/necks.

How frightening for all the people involved ., including the owner. Glad the dogs will never get a chance to do it again , and I hope those badly injured recover well .

The offcut bags here are mainly lamb flap/brisket ...our pups love them :)

Take it somewhere & get it all professionally cleaned inside ? safe than using long lasting insecticides in such a small area , I would think ...

because it looked healed to her ? There probably was nothing she could see that indicated that healing was not complete ., or that it would split . 11 days is a good length of time normally .... Sometimes if we were not sure of a wound ..say in an area where skin was stretched .. or one under a lot of stress..we would take every 2nd stitch out ..,then the rest a couple of days later, maybe ...

She doesn't need gravy ..she's a dog ,and they have the good fortune to appreciate meat for its own taste :) couple of teaspoons per meal sounds a good amount to me ....

Depending on where the wound is.. she quite possibly scratched to relieve irritation from where stitches were ..and, bingo- all that nice tender new skin just split it happens. The AB injection was probably a long acting one ..and it seems to have worked .
