Are People Rude Or Am I Too Sensitive?
persephone replied to GSDowner's topic in General Dog Discussion
:) I read no rudeness in those particular comments ... they are people's impressions .... and will float away on the wind .......... you know your dog, and what he has survived ..you love him . let those feelings act like a force field .. smile sweetly and walk on . EFS -
Hoping you can soon solve your mystery :)

Glad she is feeling more comfortable :) -
..it's a hard life :D

That's a nice idea ... hope it helps :)

I would also suggest a cramp , or a pain of some sort ... and the dog now associates it with your bedroom/his crate . Don't make a fuss of trying to get him back there ....just let him settle .If he is really frightened ...it may take some time. Maybe then move his crate to another room, and leave it open ..but put treats/food bowl inside . Let him work it out . Keep an eye on him , and see if he moves any differently /limps, etc . ..

cardboard cartons , a sand pit, rotate toys every couple of days ..just leave her a couple at a time ... make ice blocks .. use butter/marg containers , or an ice cream container .. and freeze treats/apple slices / a few kibble bits in plain water .. or chicken stock .

Tail Chasing Now Biting And Bleeding :(
persephone replied to Tazar's topic in General Dog Discussion
poor boy ..has the breeder been contacted? he may well have big problems if he left alone and understimulated/educated ... or perhaps he is one who was born 'different' Do have the resources to see a vet behaviourist like Robert Holmes (I'm sure there are others)? They can do physical and psycholgical profiles and help you . -
exactly. there are a million & one different scenarios ...from cages/doors accidentally opening, to the girl exhibiting odd behaviour , to food being present , to who knows what else. Things do happen, no matter how experienced one is. I'm sure almost everyone here has had a reasonably serious 'oops' incident or three.

Yep- why not buy from an Aussie firm ...Brauer is one I use . :)

So, theoretically NO chicken instant noodle packets, or ginger lollies, or things like that should get in either?

Holding On To The Dumbell Issues

do you use treats? Could the dogs know you have treats and be anticipating? -
Was it homeopathic? Or a herbal preparation . I don't know much about it , but surely herbs processed into pilules/tablets/tinctures would not be a threat to any crops/native environments? I can understand packets of leaves/flowers/seed ..or items crafted from wood, etc ....
-
Does your AQIS friend understand how homeopathic tinctures/lozenges are made ? There would be absolutely no piece of identifiable arnica in these lozenges .. the dilution rate probably means one molecule of arnica in several million of carrier . Hardly enough to warrant a disease fear.:)

Possible Neurological Problem
persephone replied to GoldenGirl85's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Oh. I thought bloods would be useful..infection, elecrolytes, clotting ... I don't really know much about it . Is there ANY chance she could have ingested any sort of toxin? ..anything different yesterday/this morning? paint/weedicide/insecticides/building supplies/ anything??? Just thinking 'out loud' ... -

maybe silly question... have you taught them to 'hold' items until you release them from the task? -
he WILL put on weight , yes. IF you feed him more food than he needs :) Simple. If he is stopped growing and is less active, then he needs less food ... hang off castration for a while, until you are sure what is happening with his front end .IF he needs an anaesthetic ,for xrays or treatment , perhaps a couple of things can be done at the same time .. the less anaesthetic the better . (I had Hamlet done when he had a foreign body removed from his gut) ...

I bet he feels much more comfortable :) -
has anyone tested his faeces, or seen a sample? if you are near a big vet hospital, or the Werribee clinic ..perhaps see someone there who is good at digestive issues ... Your dog may well be sensitive to certain proteins , and will need a proper diagnosis before you can learn to manage the diet , and to save changing every so often . Hope you get some useful info from those on here who also have dogs with special dietary needs. :)

Bathing Bitch After Mating Also Worming Just After Mating.
persephone replied to mini girl's topic in Breeders Community
I think the not bathing dictum was sensible way back when ... , to help protect against the entry of dirty water and possibly infection . ..now, with filtered water and dogs not usually totally immersed the risk is a lot lower . -
poor old man.
