he is just beautiful!! his eyes look terrific, and there are cute little bubbles at the corners of his mouth ! :D Awwwwww. I love the third smiley one :) :) The first one's kinda cute too :) To me the one where he has the football looks as if he's about to cry ...his face is just gorgeous ... but not being a football fan the props do nothing for me Obviously dad is a big Caarlton fan, so he will just love it! I find that orange seat distracting, unfortunately .. sorry, you did ask ......

outside? :) I presume the spitz is being taught to go outside? a little dog toilet, made using fake turf ..so that texture will be a part trigger for when she's out on grass ..rather than maybe a magazine on a couch, or newspaper on a carpet :p Toilet training is a full time job ..tiny little bladders, and no chance of 'holding on' for months ... They both look cute - thanks for the photos . How old is the spitz boy? He looks tall for a puppy ...

:) I think Dexter has indeed found an owner who will try & do the best :) re: food ... there are so many choices . introduce any new food gradually ..so as to try & avoid tummy upsets . chicken necks ..Hmm.. wings might be better , as sometimes pups tend to swallow the necks , which can be dangerous, and cause choking. There is one basic adage with food ...The best food is the one your dog does best on! :) some more reading for you :) LINK LINK

A Dog Charged And Grabbed Our Dog This Arvo
persephone replied to Pattycake's topic in General Dog Discussion
I thought it was a child ! ......."our boy" Glad Dexter seems OK... a vet visit might be in order, so it is 'on record' and so he can be checked carefully.Labs have pretty tough necks, though, and that loose skin serves a good purpose :) A very scary thing for everyone. -
Welcome :) Did his breeder offer any advice to you at all ? There is so much information on here .. I will give you a few links to threads which may be useful ..to start you off, and no doubt there will be lots of advice from those who have 'been there, done that' :) Obviously the best thing is to research, and have info on hand before you get a pup ... but it's early days , so now you and your Mum, and Dexter can learn together! Your Mum and you both need to be on the same page - otherwise you may end up with a confused and problem dog very quickly ../ Happy reading! LINK LINK LINK LINK

Escaping Dog Just had to put this here!!!!

No one was arguing? I think we are all a bit surprised that an entire dog was placed in a foster home , and we are also wondering if this behaviour was noted during assessment prior to placement, or is something new . deleting your posts removes the context of what could be a helpful thread for foster carers , or people thinking about helping out with rescue /pound dogs .

Aawww :) Nice chookies, and lots of lovely ranga hair!

Hmm..I'm not the most aesthetic of people- tend to "make do" I would perhaps in a hurry .. make a drop down black shadecloth curtain ..to extend almost to the ground ... and so provide a visual barrier..and perhaps make her unsure .. trellising attached to teh top of the fence/gate. I would worry a LOT about collar or feet getting caught on the top palings .... :) bet she was !!

I remember years ago , a singleton fat lab puppy ... I was advised to use a figure-of-eight soft "hobble" on her front legs for some hours each day . It was fiddly .. and she was not yet at walking age ..but it worked :) She was really bad , too. You could also try warm water physio.... warm water .. hold puppy gently to support, and let those little legs work. I would think he is sleeping/tired as his body is very short on oxygen /circulation, with his heart & lungs so constricted in that flat chest Wishing you all the best in helping him survive.

I have spoken so many times with people on this issue . When there are family difficulties , or a young dog causing havoc ..all owners want to do is to make sure dog finds a home. They are worried that ,with a price tag , it may not ..and they are often of the opinion that pounds/shelters are the devil's work. My suggestion is always to put a price on the dog ..and if the new owner does seem perfect, then just say 'no, you don't need to pay" .

Sighthounds Don't Need Health Testing
persephone replied to SaddleNotIncluded's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hmmmm .. (oh, and WELCOME) there are some whippeteers on D O L , hopefully they will see your post (maybe change it to WHIPPETS ?) I had a quick look and could only find some heart issues .. have a read ofTHIS THREAD..there may be something you can use? -
Oh Dear Can her previous owner help, or was she from a pound ? All I can suggest is that you buy/make a strong roofed/floored pen/cage maybe look at gumtree? I found THIS CAGE which just need a floor and kennel ..... or your local freecycle ....

Why do you think she can't scale the fence? What sort of fence is it ? what sort of dog is she ? Do you have any photos of the fence/gate area ? It must be a real worry when she does that

It's a pretty natural thing, really .. how do young animals learn hunting/foraging behaviours? usually by observation , then practice - and if the reward value is high ..they do it again , and perfect it. Dogs really are equipped with all that's needed to do lots of tasks /to communicate on different levels - it's just that often humans don't 'see' it unless those skills are associated with some sort of common human tools/behaviours :)..and then we compare .
