  1. cleanliness an owner/staff who genuinely LIKE working with dogs ..and who have a good knowledge of how they tick a willingness to listen to dog owners, and to endeavour to follow diets etc. pens which do not have water/food containers near an entry gate
  2. :) Huski ..what a fantastic shot of those puppies enjoying a backbone ! perfect :) That's what our pups get as well . I enjoyed that blog read. Thanks.
  3. we recently were given a copy...It is filled with amazing photos & stories .
  4. fair enough.. I think , if it was in general use, and joe public was taught what it meant - it would perhaps make life a lot more pleasant :) SO many members of the public..and dog owners are not at all fluent in dog body language . A simple yellow ribbon easily sends them the message that the dog is probably also sending .. but which is not able to be read!It will save mis- understandings, maybe :) Please keep away .
  5. I also think finding the reason/s WHY will lead to better management :) remember- you may have to do this for the next 15 years!!! It is not normal for dogs ...either . best of luck with it :)
  6. So urine and blood tests all came back normal?
  7. Definitely a vet check - he may have an infection or other problem
  8. ..dogs do things humans find odd... and this is not a rare thing. the best way I've found is to have 'poo patrol' a couple of times a day .. just scoop it up ..and it's gone! Make sure yoor pup has plenty of things to chew and play with ...not things Humans love , things dogs love :) BIG beef bones , toilet rolls, tennis ball,.... a treat ball with dry food inside ....
  9. Oh yes!!! Mind you - the cartoon animals were still very popular - and cute , but we knew real ones were different! :)
  10. Ok so I like to see what others do so ........<br style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: verdana, tahoma, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: rgb(238, 242, 247); ">what do you feed your puppies? first meals are big bones with meat on ..so they suck it and learn to chew . Then they get meat on the bone with puppy kibble - dry.<br style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: verdana, tahoma, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: rgb(238, 242, 247); ">What age do you start feeding them? 4-5 weeks<br style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: verdana, tahoma, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: rgb(238, 242, 247); ">When do you start taking mum away from babies? Mum is in control of this . Increase in pup food and a big lessening in the food mum gets means her milk dries up fairly quickly ..and so she is happy to spend time doing her own thing :)
  11. what exact message did your AV give you, Kirislin?
  12. No warnings here= AVIRA av , and Web Of Trust
  13. ..What you have done is, I guess similar to buying an F1 race car ...and then having to work out how to drive it safely!! For a first time owner- you have started off in the deep end, for sure ...BUT remember there is help just a few clicks away ..as you already know , so do as you did - let us know any time you are concerned, or notice anything ..or have doubts as to something you've heard .... many different points of view can be useful, if confusing :) One more thing to read ............ may I suggest you and your household start Nothing In Life Is free ... so your babies learn in a gentle, and matter of fact way every hour of their day .. just what it means to behave and get rewarded :) LINK
  14. Toss a coin . The one you have your heart in your mouth waiting for, now it's out of your control.... ... well, there's your decision :p
  15. No. When I was a kid.. a lot of dogs used to roam the neighbourhood ..and attach themselves to groups of kids playing on vacant blocks etc .... with not an adult or book of rules in sight :p many bitches had puppies in the backyard .... ergo . Kids interacted regularly with all sorts of dogs ..and if bitten (NOT 'mauled) it was usually their fault for being near pups/food etc. We all knew how to behave ..and most of us did so naturally . Kids do not have those freedoms anymore..dogs are terribly restricted , and often singletons ..and the learning by 'osmosis'/experience just doesn't happen.
  16. Them's baby hormones yelling at you ..........save 'em up and make'em work for when your new baby arrives, teebs ..
