Breathe!! she is a D O G . Dogs are predators , and most of them are very capable of killing other animals . people tend to forget this fact. Unfortunately you, in your panic, pinned her at the exact wrong time...and I hope that now her recall, and trust is intact. I suggest your dog stays on a nice long line when out & about , until you obtain good advice about trying to proof her with reptiles. Hug her and love her ..she has not done an evil thing - she has done a dog thing.

*nods* .I have only ever seen one case of testicular cancer in 'bush' working dogs ..and that dog was around 14 yrs old, with a retained testicle, sitting in the abdomen.

The sad thing about distemper is that they can recover from the initial illness - but then suffer brain damage /seizures down the track We had this many years ago.

Not every dog makes a connection with me ...

Sorry your old boy has been ill. At this stage , perhaps just gradually introduce a good normal diet - if/when he is handling that well, then think about adding extras for his coat ? IMO It is more important that he is healed and properly digesting food first ... it will be a while before any supplements show up in new hair anyway ...

Hi - don't panic .. the testicle may still come down .I heard of a pup recently who was around 4 mths old when both testicles finally were where they were supposed to be .

? Nature is Nature ..and it all works for a reason. Living things come into being, they grow, they die in various ways to provide food for other living things- from bacteria to giant trees . It's when it collides with the impact humans have made that things get tricky.

That's the interpretation I was using . Foxes & cats do very well here in my part of the world !.rabbits a plenty, birds/eggs, reptiles, small native mammals,roadkill, and livestock . There is much artificial water available- so less travelling .So - basically they are eating organic/fresh whole prey . They still have decent populations of endo and ecto parasites . I guess sometimes animals do die of starvation - usually old, ill or the very young ...and I guess too, that parasites weaken them and hasten their demise.

Hi.. I think it's not a bad idea... however if you have never fed a complete raw diet before , I suggest you keep to a good quality puppy kibble , plus chicken wings etc - while your puppy is growing and making strong bones and a healthy body. Trying to get correct ratios of minerals/protein and fats to correctly supply nutrients for baby puppies is a bit tricky ..and a premium puppy food has all the work done for you ! For everything you need to know about RAW feeding .. there is a VERY long and informative thread if you CLICK HERE :) oh - and if your pup has teeth ..he doesn't need mince :p

<br class="Apple-interchange-newline">I see lots of fleas(and mange, and kangaroo ticks) on foxes & feral cats ..& they are not vaccinated or fed any processed food ! I also see them sick/dying with diseases ... both from parasites & viruses.

..perhaps feed ribs ,or oxtails etc ..so the meat comes 'on the bone' ..and has yummy digestible bone/connective tissue with it :)

..and I guess this has been said - but you cannot make a dog "yours" , entirely - they do make choices . I am glad it is working so far - and also hope that you and the MIL can get past this -

I use varying types of cord.. but call them 'long lines' I attach snaphooks/swivels /whatever's needed.
