He sounds as if his owners have done right by him ..as he is well mannered and socialised , good teeth, and possible harness marks :) I am hoping he finds them again..or that we see him more frequently on D O L . :)

..although he does need to learn to be independent ... and they need to gradually teach him to stay outside to eat his food , to stay outside and spend time chewing on a monster bone ..or digging for treats in a sandpit ...outside & alone = REALLY GOOD FOOD & things :)

Have to giggle here .. it was a really bad day if my dogs ever toileted on a walk..they knew there was no car ride, or walk, unless all toileting was done beforehand. Walks were for walking ..not sniffing the ground, or toilet. Yes, sometimes in a big park .. ( no dog parks then, and I certainly never free ran my dogs in those small suburban manicured parks) ..they would toilet ... but walking along a path/road .. no way. It's hard owning a suburban dog these days, methinks

Pup is stressed ..and lonely and possibly has not a good solid routine and lots of support ? Pups ,of course do not like crates they need to be TRAINED gently and patiently to accept being locked in. :) Pups will pee indoors if not watched like a hawk..praised like hell for toileting outside , and given frequent toilet outings..with owner watching and praising ..not just pup alone in the backyard Pup and owner would probably benefit greatly 2 or 3 5 minute training sessions EACH DAY ..to improve communication ..and build up trust and make life fun :) What breed of pup is he ? Size may dictate what his owners need to do with him ... maybe ?

Is the breeder being supportive ? I hope so. because Jed is so tiny and unwell, it is such a tough choice . Surgery is a big shock to any dog's system . Good news that he's feeling better :D

At this age it should not be his responsibilty .... it is still his owner's responsibility ..basically for the next few months still. he is still young, and yes, he will lose focus ..and not notice his bladder needs emptying .... Think how you would potty train a human toddler without nappies ! .would you just rely on him/her to go to the toilet door and let you know ? Nooooo Way! :) You would offer very frequent opportunities , keep them under very close supervision, and have a party when the right thing was done :D

Hi... I use Robert McDowell products for myself and the animals :) The woolen bed I suggested is for warmth and comfort for sore joints in winter. Memory foam is MUCH more likely to be too hot ..as it does not 'breathe ' like wool I can't use my memory foam pillow in Summer ..it is too hot for me . Friends with arthritic dogs have seen an improved mobility , and a happier dog , whilst on acupuncture .As for vets seeing clinical changes .. I doubt they can , as the acupuncture works on pain relief :) Pain is a great reminder that what we are doing is not really ideal ..so we stop & rest... :) That's great!! I would not be stopping him from doing stuff which makes him happy .... the less he does, the creakier those joints and muscles get . Certainly lots of jumping and standing on hind legsand running on concrete is not ideal... but playing, walking , is fine in moderation , IMO.He will stop when it hurts :) Someone will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong - but as an arthritis sufferer, I have been told to keep active ... low-impact activity isn't actually causing damage ..it hurts, because of the lack of smoothness in the joints , for sure , but no extra damage is done because of movement . Hope your old boy enjoys the relief warmer weather brings :)

Where does he have arthritis? Certain joints only, or widespread? Hi :) It reads to me as if his lameness/pain was due to bruising from the thump he received?Some bruises HURT .... he was obviously very sore , poor boy ...and yes, a day or two after an injury can be when the inflammation feels most painful ...(for me ,anyway) I second the use of acupuncture for arthritis ..and perhaps also contact Robert McDowell Herbal ? As for warmth ... have you tried a wool bed? Surely where you are situated you can get your hands on some raw clean wool ? Firmly pack a kid's cot or small bed doona cover with fleecewool.. the less it's broken up the better ... until bed is fairly firm and high ... Our old working dogs just have wool in their kennels ...and they love it ..I believe it helps their joints, too. Maybe try buying a suitable sized piece of memory foam from Clark rubber? with a woollen blanket over that ..and a washable cover .... :)

What was it toileting on before she got it? if the pup was peeing on fake turf..or bedding in a puppy bed, or shredded paper etc..its body will now be conditioned to toilet when it feels that soft texture .... an apostrophe catastrophe to be edited !!
