  1. Did the actual nail get removed by the vet ? if you have ever pulled the 'quick' on a fingernail .. you know just how painful it can be ..and how it hurts like hell if you touch it, right? now imaging if every time you move, a bandage rubs on it ............ I imagine that's what it feels like to have broken nails bandaged After two weeks it should be well on the way to healing ... he is possibly trying to get to that nice sweet honey, too!! AS you read where I posted for ?wobbly I am in favour of removing all the nail/keratin bit .. and letting it heal that way . lots of games/fun/bones/new toys for dog ... and let it dry out & heal ..obviously keep an eye on it .. and make sure it's not red & sore looking ..& contact a vet if it looks yucky
  2. just hope dog is now not permanently locked in his yard
  3. *nods* OK.. a couple of paintbrushes, a spray can , and some little pots of differently coloured, bright, metallic/glittery paint ! :) rainbow /psychedelic muzzles !!!!
  4. ...ermmm .. weird/unkind comments? As a teen living in the 'burbs, I had a Xbreed grey bunny, called Lionel. Most evenings, I would attach a long lead to his collar, and we would go up & down the street . It attracted some interesting observations :p
  5. yes..it is sad ...mind you, we were'country' .. so large roo dogs etc were not uncommon ..but he still looked a bit overwhelming. Could your guys maybe have a vest wardrobe ..with all sorts of cutesy/decorative patterns ? Folks might see that , and check it out, while their brains are assimilating "large dog/not barking/not running /may be ok/" info ?
  6. It's heaps better than the boring name he had when he came to live with us ..poor bruce ..he had a rough start ... I was not told of his habit of knocking people over .... until one day, he tried it on me Reflexes kicked in ..and I grabbed one ear really hard, twisted, and hung on tight ... yes, it did hurt! He was careful after that ....I introduced 'Collie' to him, and he very soon learnt what it felt like to be on the receiving end !! :)
  7. Fingers crossed he is feeling happier very soon :)
  8. :) Reminds me ('scuse the sidetrack) Kieran was BIG , and brindle ... and he often got looked at thru fearful eyes ... so.. ...bought him a really wide ,bright red collar , painted bright flowers & things all around it , and then bought a good sized metal teddy bear shape , and hung it low off his collar .... so there was a big brindle dog, with flowers & a teddy bear :) The kids adored him ...and their mums weren't as anxious :) edit: OMG. an apostophe catastrophe
  9. I don't think what the op said was nasty or harsh , however the second comment would have stung me badly ..... that's all. :)

  13. When walking Kieran ( 36 " and 42 kg) The "horse/saddle" comments were very common :)
  14. ... people often say something like that ..he was obviously staring, and thought he'd best say something ..and it is a handful ! While I don't think your reply was 'nasty'... an enigmatic smile may have sufficed :)
