  1. OK.. you and your fiance need to get in professional help. ASAP. this is not something which can be adequately handled on an internet forum, unfortunately ....you need a professional to meet all of you , and then work on exactly what's happening, at home, with you. hopefully you are near perth .. Contact THIS PERSON.. she has been used by those on D O L before... I am glad you see it this way :) Please contact Kathy ..and I hope you can all become a comfortable, trusting 'family' , with some hard work :)

  6. Then, for the rest of the day .... carry on as you are . With some exercise , and other things, on which to think for a couple hours .. .he may settle better :)
  7. so .. what happens when you thoroughly clean it .. dry it ..apply betadine .. and then go for a nice long walk? Walking will do him the world of good ..it's only a broken nail - no need to have a foot bandaged and out of action ... ;) maybe try treating him normally ... no honey ..no bandage ..just lots of walking , some bones and training sessions?
  8. perhaps Maya needs a secure pen to be in unless everyone's home , and there are no cars? She is learning a habit which may kill her ... and physical prevention is the only sure thing. (imagine a two year old child in the same situation .... )
  9. :) nothing too drastic .. depending on the dog .. the 'ambush ' could involve water, or a loud noise ...that sort of thing..... It's usually repeated ..in a different spot .... at different times As to effectiveness ? Not sure ..we do get quite a few snakes, and we have lost dogs..... but not every dog gets a chance to be ambushed/trained ..and if a stumbled-upon snake is unhappy /challenging , then an inexperienced dog really is in trouble. Years ago, we had dogs who would kill snakes ..but that was a different time, and dogs were certainly treated differently .
  10. ermmm.. it's called 'ambush' ;) usually two of us ... and a dead snake in between ... on a path so it can't really be avoided . Dog is wandering about .. sees the other person ..trots up to say g'day ..and either goes to walk over, or stops to investigate, the slightly wriggling (artificiallly) snake. Various unpleasant things may then happen ........
  11. The vermin control pointer pics are just gorgeous ..as for lolly bananas
  12. I thought it was pretty restrained too, LC? I think some posters are worried that he has suffered severe psychological damage and that I have comprised forever the chances of older women being able to engage in meaningful conversations. Yeah it's not like you used the C word  You mean... CAT?!
  13. Things are very dry here..and the sheep are starting to feel the effects ..and, perhaps, dream of rain and fresh green things?
  14. SSM ..isn't that correct pack behaviour? looking for danger in all directions???? :p
  15. Hmmmm where there is any hard nail left ..it will catch on things ..so ...it ouches. where there is nail which is not growing and 'attached ' .. I always feel it makes a terrific bacteria sandwich ..moist & warm ....
