Turkey wings and necks are great!! :)My dogs love em..and it gives their teeth a clean, plus supplies calcium :) I serve them frozen , so they last longer .... Gulping down a patty may be convenient for us ..but spending 10 - 20 minutes chewing to get a meal is MUCH more satisfying for dogs ..that's what they're built for , after all :)

while that's nice to see..he really is a sick puppy and needs a TON of quiet and sleep now .. think of it as if a toddler was this sick ..would you still take him/her to pre school or playgroup? .Sleep and rest will be best for him - his tiny body has an awful lot of work to do at present, and needs its energy conserved. :)

yes, she was... but that injury would have changed all that .. it is similar to a very elderly and frail human breaking a hip ..like my Mum .the surgery was just too much for her old body to cope with...

I am so glad you have had a decent examination . Specific pain relief should have come from the vet .Was it not mentioned? There is nothing really you can safely give for such a young and tiny pup. Glucosamine and related things take a few weeks to have effect ..they are not 'pain killers' as such. When you get blood results, then you will know what's happening, and can get the most suitable meds for him- poor little guy. In the meantime ..give him a 'den ' ..keep him quiet and undisturbed ..and maybe a drop of rescue remedy on his bums every half hour to just help relax him a little , is all I can suggest .Leave water/milk/available until you speak with the vets again. he may need to be in hospital for a while in case he gets dehydrated ,or is in too much pain? If it is bacterial, the AB's start working in 24 hrs ... Was his temperature high? poor little guy. Did you get support from his breeder?

Jules..they do . Different body language and different scents produced by the body - either from a disease process or medications certainly make them aware .! I've seen it many times.

This could a bit raw for some .. sorry. As words explaining death and 'forever' don't work with our pets ..I fell they need to see it themselves...

One thing I have tried to do is to let other animals say 'goodbye ' .. by allowing them to spend time with the deceased . This seems to then let them know most of what they need to ....and I have had not many problems. It's not easy , watching them, but they realise quickly . I have done this with horses, sheep, cats, dogs, mice ....

I think it would depend on what proportion of the food is actual meat , and what proportion low calorie filler, like some veggies. Dogs do not need large quantities of veggies ..and, IMO , it is the good meat protein which satisfies them . a 200 gm mostly meat patty would be much more satisfying than a 200 gm mostly veggie one.,

awww Rescue remedy will help ... human dose . keep to your routine if you can ... make sure she has out of the house time - take her for car rides/walk/visiting folks massage feed her what she really loves Vacuum , use a deodoriser .. clean away bedding etc . Try not to use Fern's name . I am sorry you now have this to cope with, chicken. Take care.

The beardies I have had any contact with have been delightful. Smart, Immature for ages, yes, and have a bark/yip which could cause divorce, but have the BEST smile :) and while that photo looks cute, doing that to an unknown dog is , ermmmm, really getting up close & personal

this week's WEEKLY TIMES newspaper (vic) has a great FREE doggy calendar inside :) I am even going to hang it ..they are better photos that I've seen in expensive calendars !

I guess it's when everything else goes out of the stomach ..and the odd bits rattle around until they trigger a cleanout ? (that's the scientific explanation :p :p )

Mitch always used to get rid of bits of cartilage in the wee small hours .....usually after he'd stolen someone's bones :)

I agree with tara .. I have had dogs do this regularly in the early morning hours .. but a small snack at bed time solved it :)

some dogs(and owners) worry more than others , too . I know some dogs who, provided they get a good enough distraction , won't look twice ..and others who seem to be very very uncomfortable and worried ... Just keep an eye out for swelling of the foot as a whole ... and contact a vet if really concerned.

:) when he was younger, it was cold . Now it's warm ..and he probably feels he doesn't need the kennel? the other thing is to watch where he DOES sleep ..and put the kennel there (if under shade) . You could also feed him in the kennel every day. It all boils down to his decision though :)

How long are you away for? make sure you leave food easily available ..cut up, packaged, whatever . Also write down clearly what is to be fed, how much, and what times. Write down symptoms to look for, vet's phone number and your wishes .

That's pretty amazing . Your next visit ..we need to see photos of each breed :p

we have a couple of dogs who would attack the cats ..( dogs who we got in as adults) we are very careful , but luckily the others are fine. That reminds me - D'oh.... I shall muzzle them when i have them where they may spot a cat ! :)
