Leave him without any food for a full 24 hrs ...plenty of plain water though. then, try him on plain cooked chicken ..nothing else . just a little , a few times a day . See how he goes ..then try adding a bit of sweet potato ... take it slow ..and if he loses a bit of weight , but has no diarrhoea... then it's worth it :)

if the dog is a medium/large healthy dog, used to the clamshell ..and the clamshell is in shade all day so water doesn't heat up .. by all means

I would opt for removal ... why put him thru more procedures/discomfort for a result not guaranteed ? His awful pain will disappear once that mess is removed .. and he will look cute with a permanent wink ;)

nic- glad there have been no more sightings ..he probably only comes out at night now - he's learned what crazy things happen in daylight hours!!! He will be eating frogs .. and probably mice , too. It's a worry having a venomous boarder ..but as said RBB's are very tolerant. Hopefully all the activity will encourage him to move out !

If nothing happens tomorrow morning - time for the vet , as impactions are painful, and messy to resolve It may not be the brand of food - she may have eaten something which is not food ..... and which is not travelling thru easily ...

What breed? How old? When did it start doing this? has the tail ever been injured? has a vet taken skin scrapings? Is all other behavior normal? maybe not The urge/need to chew the tail is much stronger than the temporary pain of the sauce /chili.

I am not a fan of browns..they and King Browns are mostly what we have left ..no more tigers, and very few RBB's . Browns are way too quick and cryptically coloured for me .... I love RBB's , and wish we had more . (but like any..NOT around the house:( there is zero tolerance for that)
