It does seem so .... :( Yes, he may whimper a bit ..and not be able to be absolutely comfy ... , remember too, he will be picking up on all your emotion

The hip surgery was probably a good decision ... the rest, you had no control over .
-
Oh Dear What shame you have to pay for that - when it seems the pre op procedures are the cause! I hope things heal OK .. problem with scrotums is they often heal slowly thinking of you ...
-
RallyVally , that's all interesting stuff :) ..it actually made me think a bit more about certain working dogs we've had , and why they did what they did/worked comfortably for as long as they did (or didn't) .

How are things today?

provided it is still semi frozen.. :) and you can get a knife/axe thru it !

keasarge .. sorry if you are feeling 'attacked'- but , believe me , this is not an 'attack'..... as said , if you have all arrangements in place, and are aware of all that goes into making up an IW ..then best of luck :)

Re: cats ..the cattery where I used to board my guys used to breed Devons ..and Wolfies!! Everyone lived in harmony ..and one was greeted at the door always by about 4 huge slobbering wolfies, then had to push wrinkly Devons off a chair .... :) They were all gorgeous . Re: "pocket pets" My animals are very tolerant of baby chicks/pet mice , our cats , etc ... but let that same tiny creature escape and go running - well - the hunter's eye takes over . My dogs sleep with our cats - kill any strange cats which enter the yard...let the pet goat steal their food ..chase/bring down feral goats .
-
Absolutely! They love chasing rabbits , going to the river to swim and eat river weeds , and working sheep .Most of which I don't really enjoy, but I get a buzz out of seeing how happy they are..that's what their breeding is suited for ..and what they excel at :)
-
most, if not all, animals have predictable behaviour :) It's the skill of the human which decides if this can be acted upon. ..and some children can be very good at it , altho with the sheer size of a wolfie - it makes it hazardous. If dog behaviour was not so absolutely predictable, we would never be able to train/use them as service dogs ! :)
-
Deerhounds are a lot lighter and more flexible than wolfies :) ..and that bottom clip shows a not-terribly happy deerhound .... have you researched stuff like rallyO ? Your dog might enjoy that more than agility ? :)

Are There Any Solicitors In Nsw For Dogs?
persephone replied to beuatifulsunday's topic in General Dog Discussion
I suspect google could help you there :) -
It does seem that way

I hope you mentioned this to the vet ....
-
I have owned a sighthound ..and the way you've written this doesn't sound as if it would have suited my boy ..... Have you read these ? there is some mention of how they do with obedience and following commands, etc ... LINK borzoi LINK wolfhound

Don't fiddle with it . No wiping/washing ..it will hurt, and also damage any brand new skin trying to grow ..what he has looks a bit like a burn ..and it will indeed be fragile . Hopefully the vet will be sensible and not just say "clean it with saline " ...tell him yep , you can do that -IF he gives you a local anaesthetic spray to use a few minutes beforehand ! Honestly ..I really think clipping/shaving like that is ove enthusiastic ..and I hope you & cooper are much less stressed this time tomorrow :)

That looks awful.. may I suggest to NOT wipe the areas at all ..,but rather spray with solarcaine or use lanacane ointment a couple times a day? This will relieve the pain.. ( topical local anaesthetic + antiseptic ) Check with the vet, but that's my 2C worth. I used lanacane a lot on a dog I had here with healing burns ......

Is he old enough to have chicken wings and lamb ribs? My breeder encourages us to start off with chicken neck I think. Couldn't pay attention to her while holding the puppy. lol I guess while he's really small LARGE chicken necks are OK ..I always worry though , as some chicken necks are almost the same diameter /shape as a puppy's food tube ..and can be swallowed whole (or worse, in segments if chopped up ..and can cause choking. Wings are an odd shape, and usually cannot be gulped whole :)
-
:) Sounding terrific ! You finally have your boy . Don't forget ..he has teeth, so can chew bones now!! chicken wings, lamb ribs, oxtail ..... :) the more of this he chews and enjoys , the less of your stuff he will chew! Given semi frozen /frozen to discourage gulping, they will keep him occupied for ages!!

Death Of Dog After Westminister Leaves Handler Suspicious

I'm sure there are other catastrophic causes of blood loss seen when vomited out .. the bursting of a major blood vessel perhaps? .....
