  1. Hi Please don't wait for it to get worse. That will be a bite , and possibly an awareness by the dog that he can indeed successfully protect what he sees as his. Google NILIF. And as said do not pose a threat to dog when he has something . Move his bed if it is near where you need to be. Get someone on DOL to recommend a trusted professional in your area
  2. My first thought is pain , second, stress. The pain could be spine related, or internal Or it could be neurological ... Seems some more investigation is needed like blood tests to check for indicators of inflammation / infection . It's good that you have noticed :)
  3. I'm glad the pup survived . Without being there, the picture I get from your post is of a stressed mum, upset at a lifeless pup and trying to remove from your sight Hope all is well now :)
  4. IF this behaviour is 'compulsive' and the dog is crated, my big worry is it may then translate into something else, maybe excess chewing of feet or an increase in stress because there is no release/stimulation. Just my thoughts
  5. It would be useful to know the real story. Not sure why the dog would have been terrified?
  6. Oh :) :) those photos are just gorgeous. Thanks for sharing
  7. Ohhh Such sad news, but thank you for sharing. I think of you often. Take care and don't forget that you need looking after as well.
  8. The only hydrocephalus pups I ve seem have been PTS Never heard of one being kept alive longer than a few days. Poor little girl.
  9. B& T won't change the relationship between these two dogs .....if anything, the status quo will be upset by one being away for some time ..then coming back behaving a bit differently, and smelling heaps different!! The 'underdog' will have probably gained some confidence by not being bullied ..and object to the other dog's return, too. Not a good plan, from my POV.
  10. make sure the ramp is totally STABLE ..does not make a noise when he walks on it, and has non slip matting or something on it .... Put a leash on ..get him to walk at heel , slowly ..then walk him on leash up & down slowly and very quietly - no rush, no reward to get excited about ..just walking, backwards & forwards for a few minutes ..THEN his reward and free time :)
  11. yes - there have been lots of success stories with the calendula :) cortisone does not kill yeast ..or is it anti histamine for allergies ..it just helps with itching /inflammation... Maybe phone these folks? I have used them quite a bit dogs/horse/human . CLICK HERE
  12. She will not really "grow out of it" without a good education , and help to learn new ways to behave. I suggest you book in for some classes , where you can both learn better communication skills - so she can please you , and you can understand why she does things :)
  13. ;) a lot of things are 'mental issues' . his hearing/sight may not be processing things accurately ... He may have had an experience which hurt/scared him once when the machine was going, and so now associates the noise with something nasty ... Is there anything else which has also changed? His routine? His general behaviour? have you noticed him behaving any differently on walks ? was there anything happening in/around your house when this behaviour started?
  14. That looked much worse than 'irritation' To me it did look burnt .. and the description of the smell, the peeled of top layer ..and the pain ... that was a nasty injury .
  15. for Cooper - the dog who has a very famous scrotum :p I just had a quick G**gle and found a couple of photos of dogs who had hip surgery ..and they also appear to have full tails, & shaved area between legs ..but shaved, not dermabraded .
  16. The red is cetainly not as 'fierce' looking :)
  17. Hmmmm.. If it was a bleed which had stopped, I expected to see it a brownish colour ..but it still looks red tho duller , and to me ..less inflammation in nearby blood vessels? (may be the angle though) Oh..Great photos!! It still looks like a bleed to me Have you played around with a fine beam torch? Shine it from above/sideways (from muzzle side to outside ) & try & get a feel for thickness/translucency that way ;)
  18. The books that say chewing/gnawing bones keep dogs' teeth sparkling :p
  19. and is one of those who haven't read the books :p
  20. Thinking of you, and also thinking of the clipper-wielding person
