  1. hi :) If she is still really 'out of shape ' perhaps she has had more than one litter previously? Do you have photos of your concern? Did you get any detailed info from the breeder/seller? Whichever way ..built up her exercise slowly , so the muscles everywhere get a gradual stretch and tone .... (what is her normal exercise ?)feed her a good balanced diet ... and get her vet checked :)
  2. :) I hope what you have learned will make your dog's life safer now. be the best dog owner you can be :) Love is great ... finding out why dogs do what they do , and educating your dog(using suitable equipment which you have researched) is TERRIFIC ....
  3. GSD owner ..check chains/correction collars/chokers are to be used when TRAINING /WALKING ..they are not intended for use every day ..as they can and do kill dogs. please buy your dog a safe collar , train him to recall so you do not need to grab him ....or carry a leash with you to clip on the collar :) it is really easy, and much preferable to a dead/injured dog . If you do want to leave a collar on ..google 'Breakaway' collars .
  4. A slip collar, or a fixed diameter collar? Chain collars, by their nature have more holes etc to get snagged on things ... and if they are acrtually a 'correction; collar they are at risk of strangling the dog. What is wrong with leather/nylon collars? Clipping a lead on any of them takes the same amount of time ...and if the collar is so loos, then the dog can slip out of it ,and possibly into a dangerous situation when supposedly on lead
  5. Earlier would be good :) Also .. make sure she is not under/near any artificial heat ...
  6. Exciting !!! Hope it all works out , and that we get to see puppy photos in a few months!!
  7. It may be more useful to suggest they get a proper diagnosis first ? The dogs' problems could be allergy /yeast/hormonal/parasites.... allergy might be grain- it could be a particular protein - it could be flea, it could be grass ... Trying a grain free diet may work ..or it may prolong the dogs' discomfort .....
  8. :) :) :) and so now we need photos!!
  9. sounds it! Maybe phone some Wholesale butchers in Dandenong,, it would be well worth a drive!!They may do cryo vac packaging as well, which lasts for well over a week or two in the fridge!
  10. *sigh* You gave kalais such a lovely evening ..and so she relaxed into the job at hand .... I am so sorry she had to go ..
  11. If you have a chest freezer or something , maybe you can make a trip somewhere larger every few weeks, and stock up ???? In what general area are you?
  12. I Not that I ever would be in the position ..but that is scary stuff , and yes, I remember the story of the rotties ...
  13. yes- beef heart, ox cheek, tripe, beef mince , oxtail veal shanks ... can he have turkey? Turkey wings/necks ....
  14. Have you thought of making up food yourself ..a raw diet ? That way YOU control exactly what's in it , and it can be totally roo or beef or rabbit or goat ..... with some veg , egg , etc .... Does it sound do-able ? It may be simpler than chasing dry food ...
  15. Ohhh..I had no idea she was a baby ... it will indeed be a miracle if she is found . Thank you . Video shared.
  16. Oh...that pic should be one of those which goes viral on FB ...I did grin!
  17. We are so lucky ..having goats & rabbits & sheep available .. all it costs is a bullet, some time cutting, and maybe refrigeration . Otherwise we use Uncle Albers..under $30 a bag ..about a bag a week to keep our bin full .
  18. Ohhh I am sorry ... harmony was so loved ..and rosalie will be colouring the skies :)
  19. No, I am certainly not of that number ! However, I do like to know exactly what any drugs/supplements are ...and overdosing a pup on a HOMEOPATHIC valerian tincture /or pilules would be nowhere near as worrisome as overdosing a pup using valerian root .Anything which directly affects the nervous system to 'calm/relax' it has the potential for side effects, AFAIK. Have you tried a DA P diffuser? This may work very well - but, as said ... learning to cope is the best medicine .... I have had puppies here , new to ourplace who howled the first night , chewed up beds , etc .... after a few nights though, with toys, a comforting Heated snuggle thingy , and lots of daytime activity , they settled beautifully and were never again anxious when left alone.
  20. So ..are you using the actual valerian root , or a homeopathic pilule/spray ? Obviously there is a big difference , and actual valerian root is not in the same category as Rescue remedy , which is not a homeopathic preparation ...
