  2. Oh, My ...they just keep getting BETTER :) :) I am so pleased for you !
  3. When I was a teenager , there was a family friend who was dying of cancer. She had a little terrier and asked could he be PTS when she died . "Yes, Yes" everyone said ..but it was not done , the dog was rehomed ... and you know what, to this day, I feel guilty that her wish was not carried out ..after everyone lying to her to keep her happy
  4. Raikou is lovely !! So is Orion ... I'm a sucker for mereles .
  5. WOW!!! I LOVE that third one , pesh!!!!! and am envious of the lovely pastel pelicans :)
  6. I agree ... and often a good thing. Indeed - ..the ebbs & flows , varying contributions , exchanging ideas ... :)
  7. I hope all goes well with the trainer , and pup & cats,& humans & rats ..and yes, it would be interesting to hear that trainer's point of view ... :)
  8. That's a really good update to read!!! :) :) :)
  9. No real idea..but could there be some 'bug' in the breeder's premises that bitches are picking up /carrying ..something nasty & sneaky & that hides until pregnancy ?
  10. staffy2 ..I bet they are loving the meat :) Shank bones are not recommended these days , as the bones are very hard , and when they break, it is often into sharp /arrow head type pieces .Not ideal to be swallowed , in case of injury ... You may like to read/skim thru this very extensive thread on RAW FEEDING :) Enjoy :p
  11. :) Thats lovely ..and how it 'should be' .
  12. If you feel he is weeing more often ..then perhaps a urine test to rule out problems ... then , if that's all clear , some retraining might be useful ? :)
  13. That must be frustrating ... is he desexed? Is he weeing more often, do you think? Has he been checked for a urinary tract infection? Has another dog/cat been inside ....and perhaps left a scent on/near that spot? What are you cleaning it with? Some cleaners leave a scent which smells a bit like the ammonia in urine ..so dogs may use the spot again and again ... White vinegar seems to do the trick here..even with cat urine (if I get it early enough, that is )
  14. maybe .... I do believe a lethal injection is a lethal injection ...and the way dogs react to pain/anxiety etc hasn't changed . What has changed is the relationship some owners have with their animals, and these days , there is much more compassion and help for owners and dogs when the time comes , and I think it's wonderful :)
  15. and if she had lived in Australia, she probably would have been ! This wasn't in Australia though , and it was mentioned on here that she was trained by the owner ...
  16. I was working for vets quite a long time ago now .... and that time is important because?
  17. But , you did , and now you can discuss it , and everyone can maybe learn new things , about ourselves, and about how humans see their dogs ...
  18. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere ? vet visits are always a bit stressful . As for not having an owner present ... I have seen so many owners choose to NOT be with their pet for that last injection ...so that's not unique to this case . (having a grieving owner present will often result in an anxious/fidgety animal , unfortunately )
  19. and one of the wonderful things about dogs is that they do not have the burden of thinking in this manner ...so what weighs humans down as a concern ... a fear of future happenings... is not detracting from a dog's 'day-to-day' Toffee would have been with her owner , and reacted to that deterioration in health , for sure .It would have been hard . A lot of routines etc would have changed, and their working relationship was no more. Toffee would have had to adjust ... Then, presuming Toffee was given a final vet appointment , my guess is that Toffee would have gone along with some trepidation ..as her owner was no longer around ...but I choose to believe she was not suffering due to what was about to happen , and therefore nothing was done which could be classed as cruelty knowingly inflicted. We all obviously view this with very differing Points of View , and , if Toffee has left a legacy , it is one of people now being made more aware of their pets, of plans for the future, and of what they may do to make transitions the best they can for everyone. Hopefully now, more folks will put thought into what their dog/cat/ pet will have to cope with should they fall ill ..and where that pet will finally end up.
