  1. I think it would be horrible for the poor dog to have both legs done at once ..... it would make recovery very awkward ..she would be unable even to toilet properly ..... Think I will also suggest another specialist if possible .... and look at this from your dog's aspect ..... the total immobilisation ... the abilty to even turn over and get comfortable will be gone A risk of infection in one leg is a worry ..two .. shouldn't have to be a consideration Toileting problems may lead to urine dribbling into wounds /dressings , constipation ... loss of toilet training
  2. could be training treats :) The cynic in me always thinks of those who really dislike dogs ..and can access various poisons ....and then bait doggy areas
  3. I just blot with paper towel .. then have a dedicated pee mop .. and use vinegar ...... For mats/clothing .. I soak in Drive or bio zet laundry powder for a few hours .. then wash , and rinse with vinegar :) Good luck.
  4. So , sorry .. That is a beautiful photo of her ... relaxed and enjoying ... :) Take care ..be kind to yourself . R I P Piper.
  5. buried wingtips .... that's what is used here to bait foxes .it is laced with 1080 ..and buried just under the surface to deter birds from taking it. I hope you have it/them double/triple wrapped , totally drip proof ..and are handling with gloves. there is no way i would have put it in my fridge if it was 10 80 and your dog ate any he would probably have shown violent symptoms very soon after . Could you phone Werribee Vet Hospital or someone perhaps and ask ? .. or maybe National Parks /wildlife orgs ..or ...RSPCA. I feel it should be tested . IF someone is doing this it could be nasty. The other thing.. a dog may have thrown up its breakfast, and owner kicked tanbark over the mess ? ..... worrying .....
  6. Iphone lenses My first two shots with the macro lens this morning ;)
  7. ;) there are definitely many possibilities when it comes to skin ... LINK to list .
  8. Young dogs may still have pain ;) It is so localised!! Can you post a photo on here ? Guess you are tearing out your own hair trying to find a way to help!
  9. :) Nice to see, and I hope they enjoyed being around Cougar .
  10. k.c why not start with cardboard boxes? if you ask around some stores ..it is amazing the shapes/sizes/strengths you may find!!! Easily cut/painted /and cheap as . Blankets etc inside ..and there you have it :) The dogs don't care!!
  11. How old is she ? Could there be some pain which starts to niggle in the cooler weather /change of season? It doesn't really sound like an allergy ... Is there anything different which happens at home in April? Anything ... like putting pool covers on .... turning on ducted heating ..moving the BBQ .... anything! I am also thinking of my old old terrier X ..if she had a flea or two on her rump ..she would rub and rub her back on a chair rung/low lying branch etc ... until the hair on her back was broken & brittle, and her skin was sore ....
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=P9f5ds1PJVk why am I sitting up late watching this ??? What amazing braces !! I've not seen this before .. I'd go to watch those dogs having fun :)

  14. You may also want to invest some good money in tough toys!! have a look HERE
  15. No, don't believe it :p So mmmm, what is his schedule? How many training sessions a day ? What is his diet like? is he castrated yet? What's he like on a walk ?
  16. <br style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: verdana, tahoma, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: rgb(238, 242, 247);">He is a dog ... cold and dark is something he needs to experience and learn to enjoy :) (YOU TOO!) rain, noise, grass, cold, wind, darkness...all these are part of life and NEED TO BE experienced/made an everyday thing...so you don't end up with a 'precious' dog ..who is scared of the dark/won't get feet wet .. etc . These things are our responsibilty .... Also , start NOW ..associating a word with toileting . pick a word you are happy to use in public ..and start saying it when he starts to toilet ..not loudly, or excitedly .. but as a command... followed by praise . The idea will catch on ..then say it as you see him think about toileting ..... then, when that seems to work .. start saying it when he goes near a place that encourages toileting , etc .... and eventually (within reason - they can't poo if there's nothing there) you will have a dog who can be asked to toilet in certain places, at certain times. perhaps give kibble in the morning ..and carcass at night? That gives all that biscuit time to move along befor the middle of the night , maybe?
