  1. I wouldn't use it .. we never have on our working dogs ..koolies /BC x's .... I'm also not sure of up-to-date research ... Found THIS though .. on FB ... LINK
  2. I'm always hopeful.... :) Occasionally someone will kindly buy a card or calendar .... LINK LINK
  3. Both you and your dog are doing really well !! :) make it fun , and you both can run around like crazies :p ... if it's fun , she will enjoy it .... and get revved up more :) if there is a game .. or even one special toy/treat at the end ... then she will be really keen ! have fun , and keep learning . !!
  4. THIS is the only one I have , I think .... ..not a full one , but unique ;)
  5. Kieran was 40 something kilos ... and used to LOOOVE puppies ..he was so gentle with them ..and with the other dogs who were all smaller than his 35 " at the shoulder :)
  6. Shouldn't be any muck left, IMO. Looking thru an otoscope down the canal should show nice shiny walls only.
  7. yep.... Circuitry overloads , and the reaction is to bite/grab , and /or seize .... using treats ..even if her brain won't let her take them , may be good to help break the cycle a bit ...keep her a bit calmer , and divert some stress ?
  8. I'm not sure how the diagnosis was made .. There is no discharge ..or coughing or anything obvious apart from being flat and the noisy breathing , apparently. No treatment was mentioned ..but I'll find out more tomorrow . Thanks, folks :)
  9. The leash grabbing may well be tied in with the seizure stuff... in that she reacts to stimuli in certain ways .....and tends to become much more aroused and 'obsessed' than other dogs ? Will she let go the leash for a piece of cabana, or chicken?
  10. Friend is baffled, and worried ... 2 yr old terrier mix .. was very flat about a week ago .. vomited during the nite then later, seemed to have breathing probs and showed what almost looked like seizing ..just the once . Taken to vet ... put on cortisone . for 4 days . heart/lungs etc all OK, apparently. Since then she has started snoring , according to my friend ..and is not at all as energetic as previously . She apparently has some noisy breathing .. similar to reverse sneezing ...which seems to be more in her nose /head..not airways /lungs. Saw vet again today .. and he has now suggested nasal mites.( No, I do not think a sample was taken ) I have never heard of these ... do they produce such symptoms ? ( I had perhaps thought a mite problem in nose would mean sneezing /itching , etc? )
  11. I am very pleased you have spoken with a vet ... and I hope you have a reasonably restful night ... Sending thoughts .....and hoping for a good news post to read in the morning :)
  12. Ok... just a thought - can you put a nightlight in the laundry ? and perhaps a radio on talkback ? That may just help orient him a bit .... plus one of your old jumpers/ or a pillow slip you've used for a few days .....
  13. you used the word :) NEED your boy NEEDS something ... you just have to learn what it is , now.
  14. <br style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: verdana, tahoma, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: rgb(238, 242, 247);">Indeed. Dogs vocalise /show distress because they are distressed/ confused /uncomfortable ..and an owner appearing , esp in the dark is such a relief for them ......
  15. Phone a vet clinic and speak to a vet ..not a receptionist ... in case of bloat .. better to get there early than wait too long ...or have it just be a belly ache ! Hope he's feeling better soon. take care
  16. I would advise a full vet check ..as it does sound as if he is suffering from some sort of problem ..whether medical or psycholgical. Keep an accurate diary .. without descriptive /human words , like 'stubborn' Get the vet to properly check all his functions .... poor old fella ... it may be as simple as he wants his kennel back? (with a heating pad or similar ;) ) Please do NOT use any sort of bark collar or punishment which will do nothing except increase anxiety ....
  17. How very sweet :) Blue suits her, too !
  18. I must admit to not believing much heat at all heat on little babies + mum ... ensure a draught proof , roofed /insulated box/bed to reflect/contain bodyheat ..and ..large enough for mum to fully stretch and move ... rough uneven bedding , and let babies use mum as their main heating , encouraging bonding, and more feeding /comfort . When mum moves, or goes toilet , the rough bedding to get purchase on as the pups wriggle to find mum /huddle up ,gives them exercise and gets circulation going from the inside out . I'm mean ;)
  19. Make sure puppy is NOT the centre of attention , and keep it away from the others somehow so they can have their own uninterrupted time with you .... at various times thru the day ...?
