  1. :) :) Now we need to see a relaxed Shiba pic!! ;) and stories of the caring new vet!! Good news, indeed.
  2. I am trying to find a way to change that page display .... It's a bit 'full on' for me
  3. Ohhh.. So Sorry . You gave this old boy a full life ..and he has left his mark on your heart ..
  4. Welcome to puppydom! first .. it is your fault if he chews ;) puppies learn by feeling/tasting ; mostly with their mouths, as they have no nice soft finger skin to use ! So .. if something needs exploring , ie: The WORLD around them .. off they go. he needs to be kept away from items that you don't want him to chew . Puppy proof your house provide him with VERY Good Chewy Things .. like LARGE bones ... ...and put him in his playpen , or outside .... Feed him a meal in a treatball or kong ..so he can work at getting his food :) Don't give him free reign of the house until he can be trusted . teach him SWAP !! :D when he has a fairly ordinary toy .. arm yourself with a few YUMMY treats , like tiny bits of cheese, or cat food, or sausage ... call him , show him teh treat , and when he drops the toy , feed him IMMEDIATELY , and say "Swap" ..GOOOOOOD BOY , etc . Give him his toy back ... every time , while learning... NEVER run after and grab - this teaches pups to hang on & run FAST :p
  5. Oh My !! That is one hell of a lot of poison I hope she will be OK , as you got help immediately - that's great! I hope your vet has told you what to do , and what NOT to do..and what to look out for now .... We used to tell people to basically "wrap dogs in cotton wool" ... and avoid any bumps /injuries , As you know, ratsack makes bleeding much worse ...so any bruising/scratches etc can be problematic. feed her good nourishing food ..no bones , or hard chewies, in case of mouth /throat injuries ... and be kind to yourself !
  6. Time for another vet .... I think, if she is uncomfortable lying down ..being wrapped will also be painful/upsetting .... Even if it is behavioural .. she needs checking to verify it .
  7. https://www.youtube.com/user/BonniePaws?feature=watch I enjoyed these :) You obviously put an awful lot of work into teaching your gorgeous girl ! I like the Play Dead trick ) You are worried Bonnie is getting slow ... I thought of two reasons .. which may or may not apply .. Rewards are too far apart ? She has nothing valuable towards which to work ? Boredom ... ? Multiple times, for example thru weave poles, in the same order may be not what she enjoys ?
  8. ...and before the vet suggests sedation , finding out WHY would be my first task ...
  9. Ok... a couple from me . I am really enjoying playing with the little macro lens ....... and getting the odd shot which looks pretty much how I imagined it . this is one such : A tiny 'Pollen Beetle' hiding behind a leaf , but still not completely escaping a camera ;) here's another ... tiny thistle seeds on their journey ...
  10. Such a handsome little boy :)
  11. When you go back to the vet ... get a full blood profile done too ... this may show if there is something weird happening . 4 days on , and she should be trouble to keep settled ! the internal stitches may not suit her at all
  12. weird. What is she like when left to roam the room/house? Does she sit at all? Is there any obvious change in gait when walking/running ?
  13. What does she do if you take her for a car ride ? :) LIFT her in & out. If you put her in different rooms .. or in the back yard , what does she do ? Just show her that life goes on as per normal ... you are not cross , she is safe , and there are new toys & bones to enjoy :)
  14. good :) Instead of 4x2's which have nothing much in them for a growing puppy , suggest he gets a chicken carcass/frame .... or some whole chicken wings .... have a read of what other posters have asked :) LINK LINK LINK LINK
  15. have you tried introducing some new toys/treat dispensers etc ? get her something really exciting ... and interactive ... and noisy ;) let her have a gentle play .... and see what happens . I would also changer her bedding ..so any remnants of 'vet smell' are gone ....and iI, being mean, wouldn't give her 'brekkie in bed' or anything special , as long as she is alert & interested when outdoors .
  16. :) Thank you folks . As of last night , little dog is much improved ... only a very gentle snore , and activity levels are very good. It seemed to not be lung related ..more in the nasal cavities .. odd, but apparently now almost non existent ...
  17. big cereal biscuits ..very hard & crunchy ... 2inches X4 inches ;) I think they were originally for greyhounds ...
  18. The first step is to ask the puppy's breeder . Second would be to get a vet check What brand dog food are you feeding? What meat/bones does pup get? What worming schedule is he on? If a pup looks skinny , he may not be getting good quality food ... can you post a photo ?
  19. AFAIK Heartworms take 6 mths to mature .. so starting a pup on heartworm preventative somewhere before/close to this time appears to be 'safe' . Any later, and a blood test will need to be done , as giving the medications with adult worms present can be disastrous (adults die and clog blood vessels)
  20. Thanks, pesh. I put watermarks on his res ones .. but normally I only put small, low res ones on forums/FB /flickr
