Working/living with many many dogs over the years .. there are LOTS with whom I never bonded strongly ..and many I just didn't/don't like. It works both ways ... dogs often will 'click' with a person ... and to hell with everyone else! :) I hope your boy can find a home where everyone will be happy :)

I'm using leads over 20 yrs old!!!

Thanks ... It sounds just so frustrating , with no one really knowing what is happening internally ....

Unfortunately he can, however be harness/collar/lead trained inside ..and taken on car rides , carry tours of outside ...so he gets to see/smell /hear the world :) Training can and should include toileting on command , grooming procedures, giving medication (using small pieces of treats) , Swap (giving up toys/contraband because he WANTS to get a reward ;) ) Eating after permission is given ... All sorts of things like this .. done in 5 minute grabs during the day will provide him with good mental exercise . For the physical, AND mental fun .. get him a soccer ball, and partly deflate it ... so he can chase it , chew it , jump on it, growl at it ...wrestle it :D I second chewy things like deer antler !

my animals often get supplements with B vitamins in , too .. but that is very different to a therapeutic s Vitamin B 12 dose ..

??? But she is a BC with injuries/problems , so how is that speed 'wrong' ? "They" have no idea of what her problem actually is .... so really can't /shouldn't compare

Golden Retriever Puppy - Feeding Query
persephone replied to Kat70's topic in General Dog Discussion
Any puppies here get weaned onto fresh meat and supercoat puppy - they do very well on it indeed :) I remember the weetbix and milk days ..... *imagine if you will , 12 OESD puppies + bowls of weetbix & milk .....* (shudders) ;) -
I love flickr as my 'everyday' photo display - for the social aspect ..friends/family ..so many of whom aren't on FB etc ...

So you moved back home today ? Hope it all works out well .

Golden Retriever Puppy - Feeding Query
persephone replied to Kat70's topic in General Dog Discussion
that seems quite a lot of food ... however , to me ,it also seems to be not great quality for a growing puppy . Weetbix is grain ... and is filling , but is not ideal dog food - dogs need meat ;) You might enjoy reading THIS THREAD:) It's good for pups to be kept on their breeder's diet when they come home ..to avoid upset tummies :) If you change it .. do so gradually ..... just to let him get used to it ... Re: treats .. how long are your training sessions for which treats are used? Treats are used for things done well /correctly ... You might find THIS ARTICLE useful for the family , as well , if pup is getting impatient . have fun with the new ball of fluff ! -
It's hard, and ideally , should never come to this, but sometimes it just doesn't 'click' .... The boarding thing confuses me .....and will probably also confuse the dogs Perhaps rehome both , as there is a lot of 'baggage' to be sorted through between you and your husband , it seems , until you can both choose a dog who will not be seen as a replacement /substitute ? I am sorry you are having to work so hard at sorting it all out , and hope that it resolves happily .

:) Hope you are all more comfy soon !

Agreed. Having a situation with flatmates is fraught with difficulties and even more so in the case of attempting to raise a puppy. It's also precarious with regards to security. I will not rehome to this type of scenario because I know too well what can go wrong - in a variety of ways - and none of them are good for the dog. have to agree. Your accomodation setup seems NOT to be the setting needed to bring up a settled and secure and safe rotty. There are so many things which can ,and will, happen here , and you need a lot of help . A recommended professional person will be able to do an assessment on your pup's problems, and advise you /help you . THIS is the only one that I know of in Adelaide ... Take Care , and I hope you & your pup can both find a solution .

Yes! I would definitely talk with your vet, and if you are concerned with low energy/inappetance , get blood profile and a full checkup done , jut to help find out what's happening .

If your pup is in a study , I presume there are also electronics/powerpoints/cords etc? if so, this is a dangerous place to house a pup ...esp one who now knows chewing stuff is fine & dandy I really suggest a good sized playpen .. with room to sleep.toilet and play ... and still be inside ...but safe when unsupervised . Like this is a great idea!
