Hmmm I believe not every person suits every dog and vice versa. Believing this, and also having seen many dogs enjoy a more enriched and happier life with other owners, rehoming due to 'irreconcilable differences', can be the solution. Why should a dog or person be anxious or tentative or resentful? If an owner has thought long and hard, received advice from experienced / professional people and then makes that decision I do not see it as doing the wrong thing by that dog.

IF you can get them ( I haven't been able to as yet... but am working on it ;) ) I have seen the large plastic citrus bins used to make terrific pens for chickens/puppies/baby lambs ,etc

:) those thick strong boxes for fridges etc make great puppy 'cubbies'!! cut a few puppy sized holes (not too big ) at varying heights/distances apart ..throw in a few treats & toys , and enjoy the chasey games & hide& seek fun! Ute canopies are terrific ! April pig has had hers since I got her ..about 3 yrs ago!

Photos later .. Mr W has a plastic crate with pillow/blankets ... tip , and opshop . The other cats have an old cane fishing creel .. wool car seat covers , and a fish box with old pillows and polar fleece. Outside dogs - some have opshop blankets/doonas, and old pillows in waterproof covers ... Widget has a small wheeliebin on its side .. with a pillow covered in an old electric blanket ..and another 'snuggle' blanket . Old Gertie sleeps on the porch ..and has a 'tent' made from a very sturdy dbl bed synthetic electric blanket thingy ..with other padded stuff over it .. squashed cartons as flooring , plus a pillow and a woollen blanket inside ..and a H/W bottle in a woollen cover . She is toasty warm in the mornings .. sleeping srtetched out , even when its close to zero ! :D April pig has a 'tent/swag' under her shelter ... made from a tonneau cover and a large sheet of heavy duty plastic tarp. For bedding she has a lot of old shadecloth ... which she makes into a 'nest ' ... depending on the temperature . I also add very strong bits of tarp etc if I have them ..but shadecloth seems the best so far . Thank Heaven for opshops/tips /garage sales !!

Oh goody ... ;) 'special' food ... of course that means you have to now buy more from them, I guess ? Hmmmm..... Cynical ? me ? YES She will be fine .... and I for one am looking forward to more photos !!!!

YES. (most tissues are 'kleenex'.. most bed coverings filled with feathers/synthetic, etc are 'doonas' ... yep.)

How absolutely terrifying for the people involved One dog is plenty to deal with, but a pack - just awful.

I have never seen extractions done with local ;) Dogs tend to not sit still and open wide! For normal extractions ,She will certainly not need much aftercare , like a spey or anything .. just food cut into chunks, or dry kibble moistened with warm water for a few days .... the ones I've seen hardly noticed it :) , and sutures should be dissolving ones .

puppies love things in which they can burrow/snuggle ... so several minky/polar fleece/wool blankets jumbled together in a crate /box /kennel with maybe newspaper on the floor of it ? I am all for simplicity/practicality Pretty 'mattresses' look nice ..but try & see the bed from a puppy point of view ;)

Great to hear that experience! I think he is an honest and aware person who communicates much more effectively using the tools of speech and body language rather than print :) -
Ohhh I am so sorry. You did give her peace from the seizures, and she was obviously happy in all her time with you :) she sounded a real little ' big dog' !

How Old Is Too Old For A Female To Have A Litter?
persephone replied to lionqueen's topic in Breeders Community
you'd be crucified for doing it now, regardless of the bitch being up to it or not. Of course there's no science, it's pen pushers and animal lib drawing the lines in the sand these days, regardless of them being wrong. But hey, they have to protect the dogs from the puppy farmers some how Indeed. Progress. I have seen lab bitches fit & healthy whelping into double figures Exercising, running alongside horses, hardly noticing their pregnancy :) Those were the days. -

This article has photos of dogs, lots of info on dog body language etc ..... plus some of the old "dominance/wolf pack " stuff LINK to article excerpt : Raised hackles: This refers to the strip of fur running down the middle of the dog's back. When it is raised, it can be a sign that the dog feels threatened and is trying to make itself appear larger than normal. It is not necessarily an aggressive stance but one of "high alert", making itself ready for whatever may come next.[7] A scared dog can bite, so be extremely careful around a dog raising its hackles.[8] Frightened or insecure: The dog will cower or crouch down.Frightened or insecure: The dog will cower or crouch down. A slight crouch will denote submissiveness or nervousness. Another response can be an arched back, slightly bent legs, and the tail down (but not tucked under), and looking at what is concerning it.[9]
