  2. Good for you, teebs ... it is so awfully difficult for some new parents . I hope you gradually get to that light :)
  3. BC crazy .. she's not ours .... The folks that saved her are acquaintances ..and they really do think she is the best thing!
  4. So Sorry ... hope he has found karma , and that they are together again ...take care
  5. is it a quick maturing breed , or a larger slow maturing one ?
  6. A scrotum is only stretched skin when there are testicles 'down' .. puppies with no descended testicles have no need for a scrotum . AFAIK , Dogs can have testicles that retreat when the dog is cold/stressed etc ... , esp young dogs, where the inguinal ring is still open
  7. I think wood duck as well ... very susceptible to being roadkill ..and also to being caught by dogs/cats ..as they are mainly grazers..and do so along road verges/in parks etc . A lot of 'town' ones I see have leg/wing injuries from vehicles/flying into things ..and wobble around happily until something hits/catches them for a final time .
  8. Apparently some years ago this gorgeous girl was found , very timid, dehydrated, feet blistered and burned , standing on a hot bitumen road in Summer , well away from anywhere .. a couple stopped and immediately took her to a service station , wet her down , gave her drinks , and then vet treatment ... no owner was found at that time, tho later her story was discovered. Suffice to say, it's a good thing she was dumped.. She is now an older grey muzzled girl , very much loved and has become accepting, but never effusive or confident around people . She will hardly let her 'dad' out of sight... loves rounding up the poultry , snoozing on the lawn in the sun , and playing in/around boats :)
  9. Thanks :) She was a dear old soul ....
  10. What a handsome and regal looking boy :) he is very lucky. :)
  11. little bugger ! Hope the old girl heals up well ... lots of purple spray and TLC :)
  12. ;) 'cept dogs can't read . My vote is for the pony!! Horses can snap .. and he may have wanted her not so close .... They bite each other , so why not their paddock mates ? My meaning was for it to be placed where people could see it and maybe they'd be more careful about containing their dogs. I know , sorry ... ;)

  14. ..or wait until he's asleep .. do not move , and call his name , or blow a whistle :)
  15. ..and the vet's report ? It's almost impossible to make a guess, as diarrhoea has a multitude of causes ..... get a clean sample, and maybe get tests done - then you will know exactly what's happening :) apology .... computer thinks it's Friday or something ;)
  16. Look at those paddy - paws!!!! :) Gorgeous!!
  17. ,,and practice, practice, practice in backyard/quiet areas .. until you are both bored and doing it second nature ;) THEN , when the habit is ingrained ..move onto other things . I always remember my old Guide Dog training days .. we would do a mile walk with each dog .. no stopping; straight up a road ..turn around, and back again ..day after day after day ..until the dogs were just 'in the zone' - then we would introduce other actions - like stopping at kerbs , etc ... let me tell you ..after doing that with 8 or so dogs each day ..it was often a bit like a walking meditation ;) BUTthey got accustomed to the fact that a walk was just that ..a walk .. and they had to concentrate on JUST that ..relaxed and easy and settled ....
  18. here's hoping that bit of grass was the culprit .. now that it's out, there should be no further injury if it was . Good luck at teh specialists .
