Confused As To What To Do Next?
persephone replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
There , thankfully is that relief .... that is when the realisation hits - just how hard you were wanting to hang on ...how much energy was being used in willing and wishing and trying to avoid .... I have had many dogs & cats cross the bridge ..and practice doesn't really make perfect! I now tend to follow the advice given on here ..''better a day too early, than a day too late" Jules.. I hope there have been some special photos taken recently :) ..and I hope Miah misbehaves a little bit -just to bring you a smile or three ... -

not good . The panting can also be pain/anxiety, Jules ..not always heat related ...so the aircon might not help much, poor lad. It is just awful waiting for 'that' moment ,when the decision becomes real ..it is often much more wearing and emotional than after a pet has left us..and I find the longer I wait, the more of a wreck I become. I am sending thoughts and hugs ..... -
Advice Please (please Be Kind)

I hope Juno appreciates the extra TLC she'll get now She deserves it :) It will be a relief ! It would probably be a wise move to use a long line on Hunter , and /or walk him on lead - no free running in parks until he learns some manners , perhaps ? perhaps ask in Training for advice from Stafford folk? This is important . He is of an age now when he will be feeling invincible ... ( think brave young men ;) ) .. and needs to be reminded that the HUMANS are the ones to sort things out - not him. while I'm here - perhaps have a read of these threads re: dogs/parks/other dogs LINK LINK ..and we do need photos ;) -

*a cautious * Hitting his hip pocket may help ;) Also the fact that when walking Hunter if he is castrated *oops, wrong word to use around human males* there is not that testosterone cloud surrounding him ..notifying all & sundry of his presence ;) ..and , for Juno ...the local entire dogs won't all be frantically wondering where that in season bitch is hiding ;) -

.... can't say I fancy dipping my hand into a bag full of meat/offal chunks during training ;) Would it be OK with Steve to perhaps use cooked chicken for training - most dogs LOVE cooked chicken :)... have him hungry before training ..then feed him a small meal last thing at night? I have no idea, and am not going against what Steve says ... it's just a thought . Maybe ask raw feeders- put a post on the training forum ?

This link MAY give you some ideas. BIG dogs should not have things like neck chops(rosettes) or chicken necks . in case of choking when gulped .. turkey necks and wings are great! CLICK HERE for the different things which can be fed :)

saw the first one here two days ago - thankfully it was my favourite , a very pretty yellow-faced whip snake :) I am happy for these guys to be near the house as they have such small mouths they rarely get a chance to do much damage . The cats have been bitten on a couple of occasions with no serious harm ..and these delicate snakes are just so nice to watch :) NOT looking forward to their bigger cousins making an appearance though

Ok ... can you give a bit more info - it may help in deciding what particular type of meat etc your dog needs ? Short term, or longterm ? Young dog, or old? is it for health reasons ? There are some health problems where red meat is ill advised, or where proportions need to be though about . does dog have teeth/jaw problems that it needs bite-size food? Ok! I found "THE" Thread CLICK HERE but if you need anything specific , give us a bit more info , and you may not have to wade thru pages & pages ;)

I hope you can get some answers/have another vet visit soon ... Joey is obviously not enjoying life much at present -
So does most of the population, councils, etc. It's not a new concept ;) That's why there are leash laws, and restrictions.
