Oh So it seems the place from where Rocky came doesn't do a lot of assessing or follow up ? What advice have they given you about the fence smashing ? That makes things even harder. It would be such a heartbreak if something were to happen to him - did you say you were training him as an assistance dog? For cuddles or you ? I really do think the opinion of a solid and trusted professional would be of help. We can only suggest things as we have not seen your boy in action

Non-chewable/extra Strong Outside Dog Bed

Oh Dear ... sounds as if the vet visit was very upsetting Just a note here - vets are not experts in dog behaviour/training ... so perhaps take their comments with a grain of salt ,so to speak ..... Your poor boy must have been so scared - he stayed in bed ,probably because the stress of the visit , and , on top of that , your new method of 'being strict' left him feeling exhausted and unhappy. What did the vet say about him diet-wise?

terrific to start early :)

;) not if you place some pavers or bricks along the fenceline where it is on the grass ;)
-
Agreed. Pooing anywhere outside is a Very Good Thing ;)

yes- this behaviour as I see it , is a disaster-in-waiting . I hope B can now see it a little differently, through our eyes , and get some professional help ( and , hopefully, a secure roofed dog run to keep him safe )

..a word of caution . A dog being aggressive/in drive then having a collar grab done could well turn and bite the hand doing the grabbing .
-
baby puppies need to have company/to explore, to play alone , to move . keeping a puppy in any sized crate for that long is not ideal A playpen ..even an outside one ,under shelter sounds great :)

Glad things are looking up !! :D thanks for the update.

My thought is a large run for Rocky , so he, and passersby are safe.

smelly breath/snoring could also be an infection/tonsilitis ;) Any chance of a checkup?

;) it's a bit like asking a grade 2 child to write a page long essay .... No expert - but forest track walks should be fun ..and a relaxing time . :)

:D sounds perffect !!! Biting/nibbling/barking pups/dogs are not what most people (including me ) want !
-
:) It's sounding good - and if he is a lovely calm dog , then that's great!! It is always wise though to get any new dog/pup to your own vet as soon as you can after getting it - as an introduction , and a checkup to make sure all is as it should be :) he sounds as if he is getting a lot of food ;) If he is overweight ( you cannot feel any ribs easily with your fingers) the easisest way I've found is to just give 1/2 what they were being fed . That and exercise, and it usually works , with no drama. Good for you in doing the training too

This could apply to those in the police force as well , Sometimes , in an instant , they need to rely on a reflex, on an action taught specifically to preserve their life . Sometimes , this could be so, and it may never be seen as 'right' .
-
Mind you ... if he has been kept as an in-house puppy/dog and not played with etc .. he may be just that way .Mind you , I like JS's as they are usually so sparky and active ;) Clarabelle , what was the vet's opinion when you took him for his "I have a new dog , can you check to see if everything is ok?" checkup? (I am presuming he is up-to-date with vaccs, and is desexed?)
-
Can you easily feel his ribs ? he may be disinclined to do anything because he is a bit heavier ? ;) I missed how old he is? tHERE ARE SOME LINKS BELOW WHICH MAY GIVE YOU SOME IDEAS :) LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK
