  1. Your girl is lucky ..she cannot think about what her future has in store ..so enjoy her love and antics as she is ... take photos , and live life with her - 'in the moment' , as much as you are able . I will also suggest you have this audio on your ipod /phone so you can listen when you need to . LINK
  2. poor Jasper .... Hope he enjoys his smoothies for a while , and is not suffering a head/jaw ache ..
  3. Lovely, Clyde!! Thankyou :) Those roses are absolutely wonderful!!
  4. I am so,so, sorry .... It will be very hard for you , and I am sending you strength , and wishes for sunny days, visits to your favourite doggie spots with your girl, and lots of cavvie grins ....
  5. The odd feeling/sighting of dogs, yes. I remember some years ago, campers on the riverbank told us they slept well, except when Sally (horse) came galloping past the camp ..they were waiting for her to stop, as she always did , to scrounge food and kiss everyone... and wondered why she didn't this time. They were gobsmacked when we told them Sal had been put down months before ....
  6. Thank you so much people, I miss him a lot
  7. yeas- she is very ferocious ..it makes me wonder if they growl at each other as well ;) :p
  8. jelly .. apart from that initial fright ... when Roo was sedated ..she would have been sleepy & fuzzy - she was so pleased to know you were back - and with peanut butter .. and her tongue knew it was happy ;) ..Don't feel guilty .. you were there , she was home . When one has shared space with a pet ..especially a pet who has needed extra care /training ..the space that pet leaves is a very quiet and cold one . You do listen for those footsteps , the feel of that fur ..and the little "I love you" noises ... I can understand some of your pain & emptiness ...and , like everyone else , all I can do is send thoughts .... I will also suggest that you abolish the vacuum in the house with a living presence - maybe a fish, or a chirpy canary ? Something little, living under your roof changes that horrible emptiness, and gives your spirit something to smile at ..despite the scars .
  9. chasing sheep ..and biting /eating a newborn lamb are a bit different - I've seen both enough times over the years ..and as I said - it would be interesting to know what happened exactly . I've seen dogs snap at and grab a wobbly newborn lamb as it blundered up to them - they had never ever thought about killing sheep .... We have dogs who need muzzling around sheep ..as they are used to holding /biting goats ..and sometimes cannot switch off .. Dogs can tell the difference :) Most of our dogs will happily kill feral animals ..but share beds/food with our cats & chooks ...
  10. There are things like age/breed etc to consider as well , if there is some sort of 'contract' What would be in a contract such as this? Or is it purely to confirm that both parties are aware of what the dog has done? *thinking whether newborn lamb killing is because of movementt/chase, or because of the scent /blood * It would be interesting to learn what actually transpired ... a lot of dogs find newborns pretty attractive .... or they can also be seen as something foreign .....their movement/noise/scent ... So .. is the dog a 'stock killer' , did it dispatch some oddities it found , was it looking for food... or ?????
  11. I would hope the new owners are fully away of this dog's prey drive .. and that the dog is able to adjust to life in a backyard , with all the noises/stresses and happenings of city life.
  12. I adore the companionship of horses , but they are too much heartbreak. Probably Guineafowl .... :) They are such weird Dinosaur Birds .
  13. Theme "Odyssey " From Odysseus/Ulysses Lots of names , like Troy, Paris, Penelope, Scylla, Calypso, Homer ( who wrote a book about it all) .... ?
  14. I have lived with this reaction from one of our dogs for many years ..... (it IS better than throwing themselves against windows/doors- really) Gertie is not bad now, she's deaf .. but had years of frozen dog syndrome ..... all we did was rescue remedy ..and leave her where she felt safest ..... Hamlet was not concerned when young, but 'absorbed' it from Gert ..and used to slink off to his bed , and come out when he was ready .....
  15. :) There will be a feeling, perhaps a glimpse ... I used to sometimes see Mitch's tail disappearing around a corner ..just on a few occasions ... no smell! :)
  16. *nods* she will make her presence known every now & then :)
  17. Crying with you and for you ... Those photos are just so poignant ...
