  1. if it's cold .. a couple buckets of warm water and a jug .. outside . Normally , a hose . They rarely get bathed though.
  2. :) The AB's will kick in ..skin often seems to take ages - just look at how long human pimples can hang around!. perhaps dab some colloidal silver on it a few times a day , too ..it gets absorbed and helps fight bacteria on/just under the surface .
  3. Unless you are working with a trainer who has instructed you , please do NOT use a chain 'choker' on a baby puppy !! There are so many ways that using being inexperienced and using a chain collar can go wrong ..and there are already enough communication problems between you & the puppy .... Chain collars used after being taught, and having experience can be a useful tool . They can also be cruel/detrimental when an owner doesn't understand their dog..or what exactly a chain collar 'says'/does. My mention was a LEASH made of chain .. it stops pups getting a leash chewing habit .
  4. That's a lovely and useful gift - and will hopefully enable the dogs' personalities to shine through :)
  5. ..actually, I'd have her on a (chainlink) leash ... otherwise, very soon , she will try & avoid being collected and crated - and you may teach her yet another bad behaviour. If you are doing lots of very short sessions of leash work inside/in backyard .. she should by now be fairly relaxed onlead. ONLEAD = treats..and learning, and pats ..and company .. so it should all be good! keep her onlead when people come ..and TELL them to TOTALLY ignore her . have her with you .. and away from the touchy-feely /treat feeding intruders ...let her know that having visitors does NOT equal extra attention ..it is just boring. ..... How are you going with the Nothing In Life Is Free routine?
  6. The outside world will possibly never feel entirely safe - and it most unfortunate that a vet trip was her first experience with you ... baby steps :) ..
  7. if she gets worse- straight back to the vet , yes!! I hope she enjoys her iceblocks ;)
  8. It;s even sadder then, that something the vet did has caused this problem ..and you had no prior warning ? They didn't say " yes, we can do this ..but so & so might occur afterward? ' if she were my little dog, I'd be making her doggie iceblocks, too ...the cool will both feel nice, and help with inflammation ;) As she is small.. use the butter/margarine containers. Make some chicken /beef stock NO SALT. Boil up carrots/celery /parsley/chicken carcasses /wings ..or some beef/lamb bones. Boil for quite some time . Let cool ... remove every bone . mash up any vege bits .... 3/4 fill the containers with liquid /veges .. and drop in a few soft doggy treats ..or a few bits of dry ( they will absorb some of the water and go soft . Freeze overnight ,at least . To serve.. tip out of container if you want ,,, and just put out on the lawn...or in an enclosed area in a large shallow pan..like a roasting pan :) It should keep her happy for some time .. give her lots of fluid ..and be cool on her sore throat ;)
  9. Ok.... seems a messy business .... Hope she feels better soon. Now I am wondering what the vet used to induce vomiting? Was it a liquid tipped down the throat, or a solid, poked down ..or tablets ?
  10. I hope that I have mis understood ... but that doesn't sound terribly thorough , or efficient "caught a glimpse????" Ok.. 5 days before the sore throat .. you made her vomit? This is often a very dangerous practice for anything other than poisons/liquids, because of the damage solid objects can cause to the throat as they are violently expelled out ! Did the vet do this, or was it done at home? poor little dog, being so very sore for so long . I do hope the antibiotics help . Please do use the manuka honey ..and a good diet of nice soft fresh healthy food to help.also ..please do not give her any dry food for a week or so - let her body heal .. :)
  11. May have to do it that way ...although I think SA is off the list for some odd legislation . Thank you :)
  12. Agree with pie :) Dead/bleached hairwill always be replaced by new shiny darker hair :) he's a handsome boy!
  13. For various reasons, we were thinking of trying PARVAC. Our Rural Lands office will only get the C3 live one .. "we can't get Parvac" :/ As we only get mail twice , sometimes once a week.. mail delivery is not on my list. Can it be obtained thru pet supply stores or somewhere in VIC /SA ?
  14. Try & keep to whatever routine these dogs are used to. It will be most confusing/upsetting for them if, when they go back to the owner .. they have trouble settling back into their normal pattern. Unless you have these dogs for a long time - try to NOT change things like food /exercise . You may not approve of how they live .. but they are not your dogs to change. If you section off a room/part of the house //then maybe leave a metre or so square of thick newspaper ,with artificial turf on, for toileting .if they are not grossly overweight .. and are used to feeding ad lib - why not allow them to do so? if they ARE overweight /not used to walking ... I advise against it ..for a few health reasons. They are not your dogs "Walks" may greatly increase the chance of exacerbating any weaknesses present in knees, etc .. "walks" can be dangerous for tiny dogs .... anything from cat attacks to large dogs to getting scared ....
  15. yep .. keep it simple :) add a clamshell sandpit and a small pool , perhaps ....
  16. ;) Cos he's a boy, cos he's a teenager, and cos he CAN. "It's mine, MINE, I tell you .... ..you...you ..girl, you ...." to anthropomorphise somewhat .... feed them separately, and immediately remove bowls , perhaps ? That's the simple option :)
  17. Glad she's eating ..it's always a worry when they don't ...and I hope you get some answers this morning .
  18. I could well be incorrect - I'm good at that ;) A crush - usually a human adolescent thing - is , AFAIK , when a young person projects all sorts of things onto the object of their interest /desire . It is also a way to prepare for adult romantic love - a way to practice linking someone to fantasies .. a way to survive rejections and disinterest in a gentler way before adult relationships :) I'm not convinced dog brains work that way ....
