Steve- your own snowballs for Christmas :) You do a good thing ... you have every right to enjoy!

I hope the vet will explain what the dog's condition is .. and what is needed to help . Make sure to ask questions ...and write down answers .Ask lots of questions! :) Here a few examples ... what is happening in my dog's body? are the kidneys working properly? What will affect how his health goes? What protein level should food be now? How much should he be drinking?

URK yes, put it in THIS FORUM :) also , put a CAUTION in the title.

Sorry your little dog is having trouble So .. the little dog hasn't been back to the vet? I would be either going back to the vet ASAP ( not just phoning) .. or talking with another vet . Everything needs to be checked out .....Discuss exactly what the problem is .. what needs to be restricted in his food .... minerals, etc ... and then perhaps you can seek help in changing diet, or making a home made one. this CANNOT be done until you know exactly what amounts of protein and minerals your dog needs - so yes, a vet visit, pen & paper - so YOU know exactly what is happening with your dog, and how you can safely help :) keep us posted .

That Osha with the beautiful, beautiful face - her hind feet look not quite right? yes, there are hind dewclaws ..( which look different on each foot/leg , as well ) - and to me , her feet look at an odd angle, and down on the pasterns- just because she is cow-hocked, maybe ????

If he has surgery, it will be a full-time job for you to help turn him, lift him, toilet him- as he will find it all too hard with only two sound limbs. even with rest - moving that body around with two legs is difficult , and terribly difficult to police . That left front would be used a lot to take weight off a right rear, I imagine - and he does not have that support now. If he were mine, I would use lots of painkillers ..and probably PTS without inflicting any more discomfort and pain for an unknown outcome.

It's just awful, isn't it ? I am sure it will be the new normal soon .... however, I was lucky, and was able to escape .....for now ( no, I cannot remember how ) These links might help you ? LINK LINK

LOL everything was in her kennel ... well..scattered around the entrance , anyhow . I didn't get photos, as we were in a hurry . I'm grateful she didn't get to the egg carton & bread loaf filled bag .. we can't exactly nip down the street for replacements ! -
I blow a whistle into the phone. It is such a shame that older folk get caught up like this

Old devil! She hasn't enough teeth to quickly make holes, thank goodness ... it was so funny . She had actually carried the whole shopping bag for quite a distance .. then decided to carry things singly. :) -

..Senile Delinquent strikes again! Goods stolen ! Earlier this morning , goods to the value of around $30 were stolen from a vehicle parked at the owner's home . The goods were on the front seat of the 4WD..and were found , mostly undamaged, at the offender's place of residence, some 50 metres away . Amongst items recovered safely were : 1 can of instant coffee 2 litre cartons of milk 2 litre cartons of juice 1 bottle worcestershire sauce Investigators are aware of this offender's penchant for stealing groceries , and are amazed at how a very senior citizen, limited in mobilty, who is easily identifiable by a gummy grin , and who suffers limited vision manages to carry off such acts in a short amount of time . The offender was compliant in giving back the goods , and there will be no further action. *shakes head* Old tart!!! ;) -

Oh...... That is devastating .. but at least you now know ...no more drugs/poking & prodding for your dear girl . I am so, so sorry Take care .... It's good that she doesn't have to have surgery - that she can race around and go swimming for now , until, as you say , it's off to chase roos & cats forever. -
it would have been very sore ... ..it could have played some part ...

The nicest ACD body I saw was some years ago .. I watched as the dog barked & carried on inside a 4WD - thinking that no way would I ever go near the car .! The owner let her out ...and she disappeared!! She had corgi legs supporting this heeler body/boof head Lovely dog :)
