  1. You are very right BlackJaq.....I am going to talk to my son later today, after I make a few calls. I came to the right place for help, as I said before you are all caring and compassionate and know how tough this is. Thank you for the group hug, it's much appreciated....now if I could stop crying!! Crying's OK .. you are dealing with a little life, and what will happen to it - it's a responsibility :)
  2. :) Think about it ..dogs don't have mobile and sensitive fingers to touch , tickle, play ... and they have to play :D
  3. I truly understand what you're saying.....yet another home and the poor little thing could possibly get worse. She is so lovely though.....it's very hard isn't it. yes, it is hard .. for you in caring about her so much.
  4. . I do think it is dietary . Ours get raw bones/meat from when they can chew and DRY puppy kibble - no extras, no milk . No mess,, no soft anything , no smell ..and nothing to step in :) Lovely! However, when puppies are distressed , the digestive system pushes out waste at a faster rate .. and an upset puppy/dog can have loose poo or diarrhoea
  5. poor little girl rehoming at this time of the year is hard because folks either go away , OR are looking for a 'christmas' dog - both unhelpful. She does have some compounding issues ...and it seems as if she is upset/anxious quite a lot. Yet another home , with everything unfamiliar may exacerbate these issues :( I wish you well ... however , the decision to set her free , to give her wings is one you may need to look at ...
  6. I bet you are all so pleased to be back together :)

    How

What a beautiful girl . So Sorry she had to go .Looks as if she raised two wonderful 'pups' though .
  8. You said 'all dogs treated the same' ... did they all get the same dose ? What is the weight difference between them ? perhaps the small one was overdosed ?
  9. jules - yes, you and Amber have done a terrific job :) That is a fantastic photo, too!
  10. What a horrible outcome . I don't envy the decisions you need to make now - and will only remind you that you decide for the pup .. NOT for how you might feel . Weigh up what each decision will mean for you .. and for your boy .... will you wanting to keep him with you be what is the best and most comfortable for him? Will you then try and prolong his life ? Will painlessly giving him his wings hurt you ? Hell, yes! Will you miss him? Every day . Hugo is very lucky . he cannot worry about any of this ..he is sore and feels sick - but cannot imagine what may happen - so don't feel guilty, or that you're 'letting him down'- he doesn't think so :) he knows you love him - that's all. Thinking of you all ....
  11. tend to agree . Giant breeds need careful feeding ..and good feeding . Food, surgery, worming / any medicines, travel ...all these things will cost a lot more than smaller dogs - then there's fencing , strong ,good quality collars/leashes ...
  12. for dogs , or humans ? A lot of human products have scents/ingredients which may not be suitable for dogs' noses, or their systems if licked off ;) A good diet , shaved underbelly .... and somewhere cool to lie :)
  13. Did you explain the following to your vet? Anne makes a good point .... they haven't actually done any blood /urine tests or anything to ascertain what's happening inside ? Posted 07 December 2013 - 09:32 PM My vet is closed at the moment so I will be calling them first thing when they open tomorrow... Last night when I went to feed Jessie, she was very picky with her food and was only taking tiny mouthfuls. At one point she stood back from her bowl and looked at my brother's dog's food (he eats a different type of dog food). Later in the evening I noticed that both of her eyes looked quite red, but didn't get too worried because sometimes her eyes get red when her fur goes into her eyes. But I have some eye solution that we use to flush out her eyes occasionally, and that normally helps her. I didn't put any of this in her eyes last night though. Tonight when I gave her dinner, she wouldn't even touch it, then when I looked at her I saw that there is a problem with her left eye. It is swollen and there is a bulge on her eyeball. What could this be? Other than not eating, her behaviour hasn't changed, but I'm worried about her eye
  14. Oh... well, it's wait & see again :) if you do have wandering Dew .. it will need all pulling out/poisoning .... I've always had it in gardens and luckily never had an allergic dog around it . Glad she's had the injection :)
  15. That sounds awful . I am sorry your pup is so ill . I can't help you with vets in Canberra .. You may get some extra info here on the forum .. like these threads LINK LINK
  16. Poor little angel - she was not meant to be here - poor dogs, and what a horrible thing for the parents .
