  4. Oh My Gosh!!!!! WELL DONE, REBA here's hoping the little bubs are all ok ..and will grow & develop . It is SO good that Reba managed all by herself :)
  5. I underestand BSL - it was your original post with no details which seemed a bit odd ;)
  6. yes ..and I won't be joining. I guess a closed group makes it more pleasant for the members ....
  7. yes. Something may have torn off ..or be cracked .. she will feel better with company :)
  8. her ribs may have taken a hit .. I would suggest another vet visit if this continues .... If breathing is painful ..l can understand her not going to sleep RR is fine to use .. just 2 or 3 drops on her gum every 20 mins.
  9. :) ignore him when you greet him .. just say "hello XYZ" in passing .... save pats etc for when he is sitting/lying down / is obeying you ;) don't use a high pitched "babytalk" voice .... :) it is pretty normal ..and takes management to help him .
  10. Agree - it is all extra work and worry ... I'm lazy , and would go a "pack" of zapp traps ;)
  11. ..and which "good cause " does the money go to? Seems a bit odd ....
  12. coogie - I too am concerned that there is a whole 'parcel' of parvo lying there ..... waiting for rain or earthworks to spread it around .....
  13. poor old girl , Kirislin .. like us humans ,when we have a bad fall - it shakes us up considerably. Did the vet check her gums etc for colour ? She may well be in shock ....
  14. :( What a stressful life for everyone. Having a dog who bites/threatens humans is not on. I am not about to comment on whether his behaviour is "trying to be alpha" ..or is coming from somewhere else- that is for a professional to personally judge. I will say that you need the BEST assessment possible for this dog who is now becoming mature ..and is at a crossroads, and is dangerous. having siblings with aggression problems points to a genetic component .. and he was perhaps dealt a very poor blow in teh gene pool It seems he has some very good behaviours too :) That makes the aggression even more upsetting. I don't know tassie ..so cannot recommend anyone ... but know you are considering the options , including euthanasia . Trouble is with putting him on lead/in another room/.muzzling ..is that it's all "bandaid" and bandaids come off unexpectedly . Hopefully someone will suggest a reputable and professional person in Tas for you , who can assist you at this awful time.
  15. ouch! poor Feather .... Hope she's only badly bruised & winded .... healing thoughts sent .....
  16. :) I have owned a mini foxie , and a minfoxie X dachsie , both died at around 16 .. both were terrific hunters/watchdogs ,tough as nails- and one would also work sheep in the yards and on trucks . I love terriers ! We have been brought up that our dogs are confined/restrained at night , that's all ... as dogs are not equipped with the senses of cats , injury from an animal or something concerns me. Our Koolies are the hunters now :) I only have to whisper "mouse" ..and there is a rush ! Agree!! :) if a dog is socialised correctly .. it should only target that which it is meant to . Like your Gundog :D Our dogs kill feral cats ..and share beds with ours. It's not difficult ... as for snakes ... they climb, and compress their ribcages so they can fit thru very small spaces . They love sheds full of hay & rodents ..and where there are water sources .
  17. I think though, that terriers would be much less inclined to kill the family chooks if they were on acreage , and had 'a job' ? We always had a terrier or two , and they killed lots of mice/rabbits , but never chooks or cats .... The lab killed kittens/cats ... and the border collies killed the chooks ....
