I have seen little blind puppies (under 6 weeks) - and they tended to barge around ..not sit & cry ... they used their noses and ears very well ..and it was hard to pick that they were blind They only ever fell when they tripped/crashed ... This is a worry .....

Sounds as if she may have copped a dose of neurotoxin poor little thing ....

We had a thunderstorm last night ..and instant water features - indoors. The two horrors helped me today - mopping the dregs . This is Don at one stage ,when told to STOP :) he is such a little beast ... insinuating himself into our affections :p

have you thought about contacting the club by phone or email or on their site ? Ask them;talk to them ..then you will be better informed and able to decide :)

Unfortunately, this is why, when people do not know how to use a CHECK chain , they become a CHOKE chain There is a technique in using a check chain ..and if you do not know how to use it , please get a trainer to show you correctly . if a dog huffs & puffs & pulls - a few things are happening - one being the dog learns to pull harder to get what it wants . Another is that the trachea/throat of the dog is being squashed . One more is that the dog is learning how to walk on a tight, tense lead ;) YOU need to be taught timing and technique . Correcting/praising /encouraging ..all these are best done a certain way and in a certain time frame . understanding your dog's body language is also a VERY important skill - knowing in advance what they are about to do, so you can react appropiately :)

Don wants to be a bird dog :p outside..Don stops /listens & runs over to a shadowy corner with logs , starts sniffing ... I tell him NO ..and bless me if he doesn't sit and look at me I eventually saw his prey - an injured sparrow , which was a much better alternative to what I feared! Pups are interesting critters.

Reading the post again ..seeing she had trouble walking ... provided her heart and lungs are fine - and the vet is good .. I would be getting her speyed asap. IF it is pyo - the exact antibiotic regime is needed to completely knock it ....and it is continually releasing infection into teh body ....
-
If the bitch does have a yucky discharge ..she may have a open cervix pyometra- low grade? This means AFAIK that the infection is there .. and perhaps because everything was 'open' due to her season ... the muck can drain away .... pyo is nasty. We have had a mature bitch desexed - but she wasn't 11 .... she was fine , but cleaning her vulva a lot .. I looked , saw the muck, and rang the vet . She was speyed immediately.

You are putting in so much - it's good you can see him growing :)

persephone replied to Brian_Newcastle's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Brian..it is always awful when this happens .... and worrying/wondering can drive us crazy ... SO many things could have happened ..and everyone here may guess differently. I'm not even going to try. At least she was home ... and everything was happening as it normally did around her that night and she knew you were home..
