  9. ..i don't think it is 'teenage blues' - it is resource guarding ..and can be a big problem.I suggest getting an excellent and recommended person to assess this behaviour, and help you with management :) if youCLICK here, you will find an older thread with ideas and discussion. Glad you came here to ask ,before something happened that could lead to injury! :)
  10. What a lovely face ... I am sorry there is such a big gap now ..
  11. Heartworm in Melbourne - I remember dogs testing positive at the vets where I worked ...
  12. Thanks ,folks - he could be so infuriating ...but I'd gladly have it all back ;)

  14. oh, hell. you must be shattered. You know what tho? His body chose the time & place ... at home with you, when you hadn't to worry about any hard decisions or treatments ... if dogs could choose , that would be it -second to just sleeping while it happened - to stop breathing, and be held tight for those last seconds ...where they belong-listening to your heart .. Thinking of you, and smiling at that muddy-faced little fella , who is crossing teh bridhe wrapped in a blanket of your love & care ... be kind to YOU now -
  15. Once again - asking questions/researching helps pet owners be informed, and better able to work with vets in getting the best treatment for their pets :) The life cycle of heartworm is such that there are no adult worms present for some months ... and it is AFAIK unsafe to treat with a preventative if adult worms are present have a look here CLICK CLICK
  16. ..If you are ever unsure of what your dog is taking ..just google it ;) Sometimes mistakes are made, or information is not passed on - typing in the name of a drug will let you access all sorts of info! if the vet told you the wormer was an 'allwormer'..and that it was also a heartworm preventative , and it isn't , then yes, you were mislead .
  17. I don't think cattle would be/could be kept in a crush for the weeks needed after surgery - I would guess a small indoor pen with all mod.cons. at first, then a yard, then a bigger space if needed. There would be LOTS of pain relief,Cattle are pretty stoic ..and I think would manage better than horses?
  18. No answer to that , unless you know the chemical used, and its actions , etc . Find out the chemical name/s then look up its Material Safety Data Sheet online .
  19. I would prefer not to have an entire male pet dog ........
