I had the opposite when I was young, creepy guy in the flat next door would let Hector the cat in and keep him for hours and only let him out when I'd go call him in for dinner. It got so bad he was prising my windows open to let him out and let him in, he did it to evert cat on the block of apartments and would often have 3-4 in his flat at once. I ended up having to call the police after I came home one evening to find him with his arm in my window feeding him. I have no idea what he thought was going on, but I suspect he had some sort of mental impairment. I still shudder to think. He was creepy not pleasant ! Rufus' friend was nice, and absolutely meant no harm :)

Why would she be fine if she were a toy breed ? If one of my toy poodles lived like this it would break their heart, they would get depressed & they are not couch potatoes either. ;) probably because the size of the kennel is small - more suited to a small breed ?

Without knowing more details .. I cannot offer an opinion - which type of food, what is the mediaction, and what is it supposed to do ?

Speaking from a neighbour's POV ..a story I have told before - living in the big city back in teh days of free range cats when I was at work . My Rufus used to be waiting at the door for me ..but he smelt of perfume! this went on for ages ...until one day I saw him with a lady in a flat down the laneway a little . He used to visit there while I was at work ... he had his chair & cushion by a window ..but she never fed him ..and he was always out and waiting for me when I came home . :) It suited us all - she absolutely doted on him ..couldn't have a pet in her flat ... he was safe ..and he was always waiting happily at home for me at night .. That arrangement worked for some years ..the difference being - it was Rufus' choice always to come home :) This poor little dog thinks YOU ARE her home ..and she is not a part of the other family ...

I love his bucket! the bucket was wonderful ..a perfect size! We padded the cut end thickly ..and just used to slip in over his head (tight fit ) it never moved , or caused probs. The tinsel was for Christmas ;)

oh.. I have a photo somewhere of my old KIERAN wearing a sock on one foot/leg . It had a button on , which attached to a wide elastic "/harness" :) mind you, that was easier to keep on and secure as it was a whole sock, and his foot was in the toe ..he could run & all :)..and it on for a couple of weeks .. HERE- found it!

Oh :) marg - it is with me just about all day ..and often ends up in bed as well ,cos I play with photo editing instead of reading :p It does make phone calls too :p :p It is also a scanner, and does pretty much everything but make coffee!! Thank you so much for selling it when you did :)

oh :) olloclip ...not sure - all I know is that it was on sale for around 1/2 price! It's a tad unwieldy ..but does a good job.

OK..been thinking . two pr kids' sox (smallish) toes cut off . Place one sock in another ..so you have two thicker pair . slip in between a thin piece of flexible foam at the heel pouch of teh sock ..and stich it top& bottom . slide on legs with the heel of sock providing a space for a bending elbow .. anything firm may limit movement and restrict circulation ? apply vetwrap or whatever to top & bottom to hold.

I haven't insulted anyone my dear - it is you who is suggesting that I am uncaring, insulting and full of self importance. :) I have suggested that what you are doing is not helping the dog in the longer term. Rather than reacting by questioning my motives, please relfect on what I am trying to say. For example, if the neighbours won't relinquish ownership of this dog (and why would they when you're footing the bills) are you up to commitment to care for her by remaining next door for the duration of her life. What happens if one of you moves? Good points HW OP - really, unless you take legal ownership of this dog .. it doesn't seem to me that she is yours to "manage" . feel sorry for her ? Of course I do .... and I suggest you just BUY her ... not expect her to stay in a gifted kennel at night happily , when she has had love ,attention and comfort in your house .It is unfair on her -- expectations of where she should be . seems she has bonded with you strongly ..so ... make it legal .

This all feels so uncomfortable .....

So how long has the dog been in foster care to be assessed? has she had a thorough vet check? What "behaviour problems" did she have which needed prozac ? This is important . Do you know what she is like when being walked and strangers approach? Traffic? Other dogs? You may need to do a lot of rehab work with this dog is all I'm thinking ... Hopefully there will be no great problems...and she will be basically be sound and healthy , and will learn well .

It must be SO disappointing for that lady as well ... Hope you get some good help soon :)

I worry about what the dog is going through to exhibit this behaviour Definitely get one of teh DOL gurus to visit ... it sounds just awful for everyone

Please do not offer them money to have THEIR dog in YOUR yard ........... there is something very odd about that .....
