how much pigmented area is there- and where is it? on the muzzle - or on the actual wet nose?Is it the spot which is being treated? -
While the news isn't wonderful - I am SO glad he is getting care , and that you may have some answers soon.

thinking of you .....

welcome to you & the puglet :) A puppy that didn't pee for 10 hrs ?? Did you get him vet checked when you got him? if not , I suggest you do - just to check that all is as it should be ... being 12 weeks , yes he can hold longer than a baby pup ..but it is still a long time . at 12 weeks - he would be fairly sturdy - so a run around and toilet time outside sounds fine ! Puppies need outside time - even if it's cold :D What were they toileting on at the breeders? he may not be used to toileting so close to his bed ..or even indoors. Have you asked the breeder? It will take him some time- and you ,a lot of patience to get into new routines . if you want him to toilet indoors, using pads , forever ..then the way you are training him will help with that . if you want him to toilet outside - then he should be taken out ,so he can learn that way ! is he on a lead or something when he's with you in teh rest of the house? He might be peeing elsewhere that you don't see .... it's early days - and , like any baby - he needs many many repetitions for weeks , before he will be reliable ( I also have a feeling that puglets can take longer to learn these things ...)

it is my first NEW DSLR ... :) I have old DSLRs ..but not a shiny new one that knows what it's doing :p and doesn't weigh a ton! :)
-
I have been using manual with the old pentax ... cos it has old old pre digital lenses, and a convenient display ;) this is quite different .

I've not been a believer of coats ..except for dogs who have no undercoat/are clipped/are old ...my Last dog, Hamlet had no undercoat , and for some strange reason felt the cold awfully ..so he wore a coat at night time. I have worked with labs a LOT ..and in melbourne , etc where it gets quite cold & wet ..& we didn't use coats at all. Our working dogs (koolies/kelpies) live outdoors ..no coats . Even in minus temps , they often prefer to sleep out of their kennels ....

be FIRM . the vet is taking YOUR money .... and you are entitled to seek whatever procedures necessary to help find out what is wrong. please read this page CLICK HERE.. it explains just HOW much info can be obtained from a little blood !! excerpt:

this is way out of my comfort zone

shivering /seeking a cool spot .. what is his temperature ? he may have a fever ..or his poor little body's thermostat may not be working, due to problems . Did your vet do blood/urine tests- or suggest them? if not, I strongly that you should write down all history /meds etc and find a new vet. ..and yes, this is 'shivering'..not so much shaking ... that ,plus loss of appetite signals a very unwell little boy . All I can do is urge you to get a vet appointment very soon ..have bloods tested for infections/kidney function .. everything, really ..and then make plans.

walking/doing her normal activities will not hurt her at all ... she is pregnant, not diseased ;) ( no 5 km runs , or racing ...) Glad you have spoken with the breeder ..and if a caesarian is done , it is possible to spey her at the same time . I have worked with bitches who had this done ..and they had no problems raising large litters (labradors) ....

*nag,nag,nag* :p :p T ..it will happen ...one day , thanks for the hints :) I don't take many dog photos , actually ....

I don't get this either ..she will probably be more relaxed if she knows he's around :)
-
..and I would be cautious about trusting a vet whose xray stuff is out of order- and who doesn't suggest trying another clinic ..or doing an ultrasound ..... Are there other vets around ? keep emailing/phoning the breeder - they may be able to help get an xray or something.... I would also suggest that those folks who are keen to get a puppy pay you a deposit - a couple hundred dollars to help cover desexing/vacc's . They may then have a slight change of mind ;) in which case you need to look further ! Do NOT give pups away . if people have to pay early - then they have an idea of what will be a part of their life ....
-
tesslc - another suggestion to contact the breeder .. and yes, to cop any flak ;) Word gets around , and they may be very P'd off if they hear this news in Chinese whispers down the track.

in the boot??? I am hoping you mean rear area of a van/wagon , and not a boot of a sedan - with lid ;) My Mitchell used to often sleep in my station wagon when we were travelling :) -
I Think My Dog Swallowed Some Plastic!
persephone replied to Yonjuro's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
you will know, trust me ! it may take more than 48 hrs .. but you will soon know .. upset tummy /vomiting/'diarrhoea' but which really is just liquid escaping around a solid lump which can't move ...and that sort of thing.... -
That's how I understood it as well :)

I feel incredibly humbled by receiving this camera in the mail yesterday ... my very first new DSLR ! Taking photos with this is a very different experience here are a few of the first , taken with supplied 18-55 lens . The one of my hand ,and Dougal cat were taken late last night .. lit only by a bedside lamp , and all are unedited , except for some cropping . I am impressed :)

perhaps contact the breeder - and ask for any advice re: whelping? It will be scary /wonderful.. remember - she needs quiet and security ... keep an eye on her subtly - and make sure A vet knows ..and you have a number you can call if needed! also make sure the bitch isn't too hot when whelping. She will puff & pant anyhow , with the exertion/anxiety ...
