I also suggest a vet visit ...but - am a bit concerned as to his behaviour if you approach to put collar/leash on ....

get sight/hearing checked as well. What makes you think it is fear ? What is his body language ? What is different from how he normally looks? Sorry this is happening - scary stuff.

you pick an action and a word ... to me 'touch' is just that - touch . Grab, or get it ..could be used for putting jaws around an object ..and then 'hold"..or hang on , etc for actually holding it in the mouth ... So pick your 'commands' to what rolls off your tongue ..and to which the dog listens :) it's all very casual here .. mostly done with youngsters who enjoy chasing/picking up toys /apples "gettit" , and have been always used to me asking "what have you got?" , making it seem the BEST thing in teh world that they are carrying something which they trust me to not remove entirely . I then say "gimme" and gently remove object - admire it with much praise ..and place it back in their mouth. I more often than not end up with a pup/dog who will come & show me whatever they are carrying ..and give it me with much tail wagging .... So - we have 'gettit'.. & "gimme" for things I wish to have/see ... and 'what have you got" /show me for items they have and I may need to take away from them .... all very natural and casual ....

Jumping up onto something when when needed is a fun,and useful trick/exercise, esp if one is bed bound /chair bound :) A bit like putting paws on a bed edge /door/whatever Most of my dogs have always loved playing "pick it up" , whether it be clothespegs, sox, dropped pens or usb sticks :) yes, a VERY useful trick ! Hmmm..lying still is not "the action of "Down" ..lying still is relaxing ...and just being still and settled ... My 'waiting for food' is a fun thing ..started with playing around with food ..and altered to whatever the pup/dog likes doing best ...it is usually not related to a bowl of food - that's different . I guess the principles the same - but it is 'played' anywhere /anytime :) Sorry, Shadrack for digressing - if you look at side of communicating with your dog ..there is much fun (which, by the way , does not need to be loud/excitable/fast) there to be found ! as cav&rott says :)

and one lesson here - learned from bitter experience ) when using a program which is new - try & copy your chosen photo - save it with another name ,so you still have an original ;) two lessons have just been learned here: 1) make a copy of your photo 2) carry an extra battery :doh:to both! thank goodness I still had the photo in my camera (I have put the photo in the Wildlife thread) :) so glad you had a copy!! The extra battery thing - yes, well, errmmm.... ;) -

There are lots of things you can do with the dogs when you are sitting/lying down - and while 'tricks' may be seen as unimportant , to me, they are a fun way to communicate , to learn what your dog likes , and to laugh! For the dogs - tricks mean learning, and listening - communication , and closeness to you. tricks can include lying still ...... waiting for food ..... offering a paw .... jumping ..... picking up things .... If you can separate the dogs , one at a time with you may be much more settled . Use a calm and slower voice when talking to teh dogs ... definitely get yourself a walking frame!! They , as well as toilet aids /shower chairs , etc . can be rented/bought from various places like THIS

Help! My Neighbour's Dog Killed My Husky :(
persephone replied to HuskyDrake's topic in General Dog Discussion
Huskydrake did what she thought was all she could do to get help . We all would do what WE thought to be appropriate . That's it. Whatever one does in an absolutely horrific situation like that is 'right' for them at that time. -

Help! My Neighbour's Dog Killed My Husky :(
persephone replied to HuskyDrake's topic in General Dog Discussion
A person of small stature and not a lot of strength ..shocked/scared, and with two strong dogs in a serious fight ? I don't blame you, Huskydrake .If you were not 100% certain of how to separate fighting dogs .. you were risking your own self .
