  1. :) poor old thing - she relaxes all muscles- including the tongue , and without those teeth to hold it in .. it will sag out .
  2. Overthinking, perhaps? You don't have your pup yet - there may be things you have not entered into your hypotheticals- like intolerance/allergies to chemicals..other illnesses .. many of us have indeed switched parasite control/prevention methods/substances ..and there are continual discussions on D O L about this subject. They may not interest you due to a lack of detailed analyses ;) You have mentioned budgeting - if you feel you can not adequately provide the most suitable ecto/endo parasite control/prevention - then perhaps you should also cost surgeries and health maintenance . perhaps now is not the right time to add a puppy ?
  3. That does look lovely :) Now they will be crowded with DOLers :p
  4. A couple of quick iPhone Happy Snaps .. which made ME smile, anyhow I have this contraption hanging in a tree ..and when I say "Playtime" .. the terrors sit & wait for me to start it swinging - then we have fun
  5. Hi - is the eye swollen a lot ? Can you post a photo? usually injured/infected eyes are best checked by a vet ..in case of a foreign body or something happening .
  6. worm a few times a year ... as said - treat fleas if they are there ..and heartworm with whatever is suitable for the dog's weight ( need not start until 4-6 mths) Such a tiny morsel of dog will not cost much per year ... and I suggest you contact companies/manufacturers about their drugs and how they ascertain dosages etc. My brain hurts with the way all this is posted ... I appreciate you are researching to the Nth degree ;) ... Hope you find a pet Insurance scheme which fits ... and also a vaccination schedule which fits in with your scheme ... there are as many different ideas as there are owners, pretty much :)
  7. Glad there is nothing drastic hurting today ... keep warm !
  8. Not sure where that info came from ! It is almost laughable , considering the logistics. We used to be in the kangaroo business(pet and human consumption) - In both cases ,roos were shot at night only , field dressed - and placed, before daylight,in a chiller where temps were a tad above freezing . They were then transported in refrigerated trucks to the processing plant .
  9. Oh Nooo... hope the elbow is 'just' hurt on the outside , with no bruised bone etc . Can't help with teh lens , but would suggest using another one tomorrow - just in case !
  10. Jacaranda does that - I'll bet you were scared , and VERY glad there was no damage . Thankfully , i usually t falls gently ..as all those leaves act a bit like a parachute! We always lose several limbs when it's like this ...
  11. ermmmm... posting such cuteness should come with a warning ! :D is it that ear which is closest to any heat source? teething on that side/
  12. Absolutely. Plus my dogs would rather drink from puddles and creeks than their bowl, let alone filtered water. Seems a huge waste of money, resources and time to buy bottled. agree - ours always get river water ..straight from the Murray - same as what we use to wash in and cook in -we drink rainwater . When I visit Adelaide tho , I buy cask water as the taste of the tap water is foul our dogs will drink out of any puddle , etc .
  13. if she is not crate trained - please train her first ... just shutting her in a crate can do even more damage to a sensitive dog one training link..apologies if you already do this . LINK
  14. taken from the link in my other post - do you have a behaviourist booking yet ? Hoping for a good outcome :)
  15. could it be a meningitis ? high temp / shakes? It must be a scary time ... sorry.
  16. Yes, it is very sad that both breeder and vet agreed to castrate at such a young age .
  17. AUSSIE DOG tucker ball LARGE :) slobrador proof!! ;) yes, it's round ...but ..... it will last for ages ..and you can also slip in bits of apple , a few cat food bites, some chopped up sweet potato .....
  18. from your posts I feel you are well aware of what will probably happen - and yes, trying to find a "why" is one thing which we all do What a terrible time . Jesse does not sound happy ..and you sound very confused and sad.
  19. :) it also keeps water cool - friends have one on their bench .
  20. Agree. :) I cringe at the thought of the hundreds of extra plastic bottles /casks being put back into the system by a person doing this .....
  21. Hmmmm.... this looks pretty interesting :) WATER FILTER
  22. maeby - why not buy a water filter instead :) ? The high price of "processed and packaged' water is mostly because of the making of plastics etc .. Under sink water filters can be an excellent investment ... They can take out chlorine /taste ..fluoride... the jugs/containers with a removable filter also work well, AFAIK . :) just found this -LINK I know several people using filters - some undersink, some a ceramic urn, and some a jug ... ... they are all different in the water quantities produced ... but all save a fortune in plastic bottles/containers!
  23. distilled water has no minerals , which is why it may be a useful adjunct for dogs/cats prone to having problems with crystals . I would not advise it for humans or growing animals because of the total lack of mineral content ....
