can you make her some stock ? fish , or whatever meat she can tolerate ..little salt & not much else? she perhaps will enjoy drinking it...also - if she can have lactose free milk - mix a little in some water ?

Mitchell wasn't large - only about 20 kg .he had a groove hollowed out , and some connective tissue re routed to hold things in place . His op was done by an orthopedic surgeon , and was fascinating (if heart stopping,) to observe. He was never crated ..just lifted on & off sofas , kept on lead a lot & made more comfortable than usual ;) ..this was done many years ago , and there were no supplements , or physio or anything & his leg was immobilised in bandages for quite some time .Yes, it was a while before things got settled, but that leg was 110% for the rest of his very active life (about 8 yrs or so ) Hope things go well for your dog - look up training tips etc which can be done without much action - invest in treat balls etc ... train dog to toilet on command - and get ready to become enslaved ;)

Off topic a little but my English Pointer is a big boy and he curls up in to a tight ball when sleeping outside on his doggy bed. I'm always amazed at now small and tight he can curl up. They do , don't they ? keeping that hairless belly from losing too much warmth .... instinctively .

second that ,Cosmolo does all sorts ... has dog had a thorough vet check ? eyes/hearing /blood tests for any sneaky things ?

Most of our dogs are outside ... they most often do not use kennels, but dig a lovely bed in the sand ... I think if you can put a tarp or piece of carpet UNDER to stop the air flow thru hammock, and then use a couple of polar fleece - or WOOL blankets (check opshop) ... Dogs are MUCH more comfortable in a hollow space , rather than a flat , human like mattress - as in a hollow , any cold breeze goes over them ., the sides/base stay warm from their body .and when they curl up , most of their back is cuddled by the sides of the hollow :) That's why dogs/bears etc have dens ... to conserve body heat .

Oh.... so sorry he is now over the bridge and out of sight - Such a beautiful boy ...

Glad things seem OK .... keep an eye out though .... he may even be 'leaking' a bit of mucus now & then ... or have tiny tear/split ... That's good news about the new vet supporting raw feedding!

*sigh* D O L is full of people , from all walks of life . There is discussion, debate , exchange of ideas , and negotiation . There is sharing, support, comparison ,and argument. Certainly sounds like a REAL forum to me ;) if you need to discuss things from a scientific /analytical P O V - perhaps somewhere else may be more suited?
