  1. Oh dear What a big mess. 8 mths old and the owner doesn't know if there is a chip???? I think she really needs to be checked ..by a vet ..health as well as the microchip . There may be something strange happening ...I am so sorry you were caught, but pleased that someone smart and responsible has the dog ....
  2. oh - I am so sorry to read this . Euthanising this pup seems a very responsible thing to do .It would be my chosen action as well . BUT in whose name is she microchipped ? if she is still registered in the old owner's name ... things could get tricky Did you get a receipt/papers / change of ownership form or something when you paid for this pup?
  3. ;) wanna make it even easier ? When he pees - use a cue word ... then as he finishes - lots of praise & pats ...hold his collar and wipe his feet ..then a treat or short game - so in a few days it all becomes a FUN thing :) My Don is 9 mths ..and will mostly now go - or think about it - on hearing the cue word - then we have a minute or so playing with his favourite toy :)
  4. Why was the owner selling her? Is there a trial period? Do you know any history of the pup - was she from a breeder , or ? I would also worry - In fact I would never have purchased a pup with that description TIMID..and DEFENSIVE . She will grow very large , and neither of these traits is easy with a large dog . I agree that your old dog needs to come first - and a very large unknown puppy may not be the best thing. Sorry ...my only advice would be to return the pup - but I'm not you ..and so that is just my point of view.
  5. Dear old thing :) if she is tail wagging ..climbing on the bed etc - it's not time , IMO. While she is still enjoying life - and is able to relate well to you - then she will be happy :) I certainly am not advising leaving her until she is immobile ... and you wouldn't anyhow :) .Just watch her lovingly as you are doing . if she cannot get on the bed/couch ..is missing out on walks because of discomfort ..then some thinking needs doing ... Someone here may well have advice on the hind end weakness - I think it has been mentioned before ... make sure you get lots of photos/videos ..and start planning now for when the time comes - have the practicalities clear - so whenever the day is , you will be confident that all is planned . you have done SO well :)
  6. Be very very grateful :) No stinky walls/garden he is not mature yet ..that has a lot to do with it .he is still a baby /teen .Plenty of time yet!!
  7. So sorry, Tkira .. My condolences to your dad - he will be feeling very much alone and lonely now I am glad Buddy had a good long time doing what he loved ... Take care
  8. I think they are fantastic! :)
  9. I've only had it a couple of days .... It is quite firm ..and when chewed it compresses..and exerts a pressure as it tries to get into shape ..so the dog gets a good chewing action happening :) I guess they will get holes in/bits chewed off at some stage
  10. I think part of the reason is that they exert some pressure when chewed ... ..anyway - it keeps the black beast occupied for a while :)
  11. Thanks - It was a lovely time of teh evening :)
  12. Driving to town & back :) ;) "it's a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll" around 200km the round trip, actually . and this as well ..
  13. It's a cheapie ..and has it's foibles& faults ..BUT we are learning what it likes, & what it doesn't ;) Tamron 70-300 , no frills .Around 130 dollars.
  14. Glad he's stopped the diarrhoea - and he may not poo just yet because what he is eating is MUCH less than normal , and will mostly be digested ..and not have much waste to be pooe'd out. perhaps mix the rice/chicken /real food with 2/3 rice& chicken , 1/3 real food ...and increase the intake .
  15. LINK tennis ball size- hollow - treats can be poked in- it bounces , rolls, and Don loves chewing it , dropping it, and watching it bounce, It may not last very long fore really serious players - but I love how flexible it is ..and it doesn't have the rubber smell! :)
  16. that looks fine :) Another thing - keep coat well brushed - often it's the woolly /dead hair which sometimes forms a nice layer under which the skin doesn't dry ..and teh 'bugs' get a toehold .I imagine corgis coats to be a bit like labs - who can be plagued by these darn things :)
  17. My aunt got her last dog in her mid 70's ..a cairn terrier pup! Both survived ..and dog died well into double figures.
  18. Yoiks! you have two entire males , with bull breed genes . Cisco will now be feeling like a MAN -- and he will react differently than he did as a baby. he will smell male, act male ..and , well, ...... When they do fight... yes, it's serious Definitely feed apart now - out of sight..and pick up bowls immediately . NO two dogs in the yard when one has a favourite plaything LOTS of training with each of them definitely get both castrated - NOT 'snipped' as in vasectomy , as that will not stop the testosterone .. That's all I can think of now ..hopefully someone else will provide more for you to work with :)
  19. 'Chicken' legs are hardly the same as bones from a mammal - they are constructed to be light - so have a lot of air spaces, They are also not hard from weight bearing, really , as the poor chooks only live 6 weeks or so, and don't walk much at all... Remember , dog stomachs are made to digest bone ..and I think chicken bone would digest pretty quickly before causing problems . I have fed, and do feed them ...but prefer feet , or turkey wings :)
