Malamute And Adolescence...tell Me It Gets Better!?
persephone replied to ellejaytee's topic in Puppy Chat
:) he certainly sounds as though he has plenty of playtime . he does, however need periods of training ..and periods of "lie-down-and stay-calm training." perhaps 3 or 4 short training sessions will help - they only need to be 5 minutes - but need to be work - him learning and thinking, and getting much praise for doing new things :) Being only 7 mths - perhaps 2 shorter walks each end of the day ? may I also suggest your partner doesn't start rough&tumble games with pup ;) You could perhaps do the early morning, or after work walk ? Fetch is a good base - so much more can be fitted in to this ! Come, Sit, Give, Hold, Wait , heel ...all sorts :D These might give you some ideas :) CLICK HERE CLICK HERE -
:) K - i dislike catching folks face on - it seems rude .o:

It has been about a year I think, since I had an opportunity to just sit for some time, & watch people pass .This was at teh local Agricultural Show .... Oh - and a working dog :)

Malamute And Adolescence...tell Me It Gets Better!?

Hi .... what is his daily/weekly programme ? what does he do each in regard to training sessions/walking....? what are his favourite toys & games ? :) -
Oh dear What a big mess. 8 mths old and the owner doesn't know if there is a chip???? I think she really needs to be checked ..by a vet ..health as well as the microchip . There may be something strange happening ...I am so sorry you were caught, but pleased that someone smart and responsible has the dog ....
-
oh - I am so sorry to read this . Euthanising this pup seems a very responsible thing to do .It would be my chosen action as well . BUT in whose name is she microchipped ? if she is still registered in the old owner's name ... things could get tricky Did you get a receipt/papers / change of ownership form or something when you paid for this pup?

Male Great Dane Pup Squatting To Pee *bewildered*

;) wanna make it even easier ? When he pees - use a cue word ... then as he finishes - lots of praise & pats ...hold his collar and wipe his feet ..then a treat or short game - so in a few days it all becomes a FUN thing :) My Don is 9 mths ..and will mostly now go - or think about it - on hearing the cue word - then we have a minute or so playing with his favourite toy :) -
Why was the owner selling her? Is there a trial period? Do you know any history of the pup - was she from a breeder , or ? I would also worry - In fact I would never have purchased a pup with that description TIMID..and DEFENSIVE . She will grow very large , and neither of these traits is easy with a large dog . I agree that your old dog needs to come first - and a very large unknown puppy may not be the best thing. Sorry ...my only advice would be to return the pup - but I'm not you ..and so that is just my point of view.

Dear old thing :) if she is tail wagging ..climbing on the bed etc - it's not time , IMO. While she is still enjoying life - and is able to relate well to you - then she will be happy :) I certainly am not advising leaving her until she is immobile ... and you wouldn't anyhow :) .Just watch her lovingly as you are doing . if she cannot get on the bed/couch ..is missing out on walks because of discomfort ..then some thinking needs doing ... Someone here may well have advice on the hind end weakness - I think it has been mentioned before ... make sure you get lots of photos/videos ..and start planning now for when the time comes - have the practicalities clear - so whenever the day is , you will be confident that all is planned . you have done SO well :)

Be very very grateful :) No stinky walls/garden he is not mature yet ..that has a lot to do with it .he is still a baby /teen .Plenty of time yet!! -
So sorry, Tkira .. My condolences to your dad - he will be feeling very much alone and lonely now I am glad Buddy had a good long time doing what he loved ... Take care
-
I think they are fantastic! :)

I've only had it a couple of days .... It is quite firm ..and when chewed it compresses..and exerts a pressure as it tries to get into shape ..so the dog gets a good chewing action happening :) I guess they will get holes in/bits chewed off at some stage
-
:)
-
I think part of the reason is that they exert some pressure when chewed ... ..anyway - it keeps the black beast occupied for a while :)

Luckily Don loves it :)
