  1. Sometimes , if an owner is given to know that there is help available in removing the dog from their yard , and finding it a home , their first kneejerk reaction disappears. Faced with sobbing kids/mauled pet (possibly the first experience of death)... and the apparent heartlessness/aggressiveness of the once -cute puppy ..one answer looms large - and other solutions just do not enter into it . Sure, there are folks who would PTS just because ... Hope this situation was resolved happily.
  2. course she likes bacon ! ;) not allowed it ..but will scoff any that lands near her ...
  3. Fried Egg daisies, & Trouble this evening .
  4. When I watched it back I was surprised at how Irish I sounded. I've lived here nearly ten years. I thought it was as good as gone! It's just beautifully blended now :)
  5. brilliant :)- and what a gorgeous accent!!!!
  6. It really does boil down to how pups grow & develop on whatever they are given :)
  7. why? because she's a dog ..they see their world thru scent. Read here if you want a full explanation : CLICK
  8. Dogs use their smell a LOT - and their bodies react . It is ESSENTIAL that any articles with body fluids on are completely locked away from dogs . Close doors - immediately bin/wash items..and put things out of reach.
  9. Not knowing the story ... you have a Chi? I figure that if neighbours are so upset by the noise, then they would be happy to do diaries etc to help you stop it! I think it's a shame that council see it as such a horrible thing to do - but will happily advocate anti bark collars etc ...
  10. thanks folks ..not sure if I will pop in here regularly ... too many have crossed the bridge from here to better places in the past couple of years ... Thank you everyone for following April's journey...
  11. April was sent over the bridge last week .... It was some time coming , due to declining health and I feel it was the right thing . Dear April - she had such funny ways - and our late night rambles were such an enjoyable time for us all . No rambling eulogy - just a "That'll Do, Pig"..and another empty spot in my heart ....
  12. ah :) Pigmentation ... it may take a long time - I am honestly not sure ...pigment may not be in scar tissue ?
  13. :) That's a bit vague . to heal from what? Injury/infection/sunburn/surgery???? Which part of the nose? has dog seen a vet ?
  14. -- if you know he will be on your bed .... how about something like this draped over the top of your bed ? CLICK HERE
  15. I use the blue one - never had any trouble with it
  16. pssst .. you REALLY want the dog to watch you ? WHISPER to him ! he has to turn to you so his ears are pointed in the right direction . Whisper his name - when he turns - treat! rinse/repeat . Dogs have amazing hearing , and I do not understand why folks almost shout at them , unless in a very distracting or urgent situation
  17. AS people have posted - worming/flea treatments do NOT have to be given every month ..especially if you have chemical-sensitive dogs. Heartworm is a concern , as it is transmitted by mosquitoes. Check with the local vets , to see what the incidence in your area is . IF your dogs were to get heartworm ..treatment is not pleasant - as the adult worms live in the heart - and need Vet supervision to use special chemicals to kill/dissolve them so they do not clog up the heart/blood vessels. and you will have a MUCH better idea if you stop continually changing foods!!! The raw is a great plan - keep them on it for a month or so ..and see how they go .
  18. VERY scary ! Glad the old fella is OK again , and that there were folks to help .
  19. you definitely need to speak with the VET . if it is a receptionist at fault then he needs to know. And - make sure you check the phone numbers they have for you .. it may be that there is a number incorrect ...it does happen .. hope it all works out . and - get youself some el cheapo reading glasses from 2 dollar shops - I have several pair :)
  20. Dogs are amazingly good at noticing our body language - My thought is that it's one of those things passed down from hunting - in a mob/flock of animals the one who looks that tiny bit different is noticed and then tested .... ?they do a similar thing when working sheep - treating 'leader; sheep differently to young ones - or stubborn ones ...
