  1. Oh Dear - poor Danny - it's hard on an old body when things stop working Hope you found somewhere dry to lay your head
  2. Persephone, may I ask what you use for bedding instead? Obie and Flipp both shred beds as well as soft toys and a few lounges now, I'd love to use something else for bedding that's soft and snugly for Obie being a whippet. Flipp has more chubby to her so is happy with old blankets on the old lounge. I don't mind picking up disembowelled toys but bedding every day is driving me nuts. I'm the neighbour that has been known to vacuum the backyard to clean up the snowstorms! I just use opshop blankets , both wool and that polar fleece I guess your boy needs something soft for his bony self - what about a trampoline bed with a blanket "nest" ?
  3. If I buy stuffed toys- I expect them to stay that way . If a dog rips/chews , they don't get them anymore. :) Don is using toys which have had two owners before him!' I have given up using pillows /stuffed bedding because of snowstorms
  4. I can neither spell, nor say 'osteochondritis' - so Thanks for that! Yes, that's it. :) it's a tricky one. Not an uncommon thing - I used to see it a lot when working with labs ..elbow and/or shoulder
  5. So - the dog has osteochondritis dissecans ? is that what you are describing? if it is,it can be surgically treated- and with rest etc may well not be a problem again ... not easy ..but can be done . and the glaucoma was noticed very soon after you took the pup home - ( I spotted this on another site THAT would have been the time to return it , or get legal advice- not 12 mths down the track I think that unless you can prove - lord knows how - that this was a result of the breeding - there is nothing to do ... :/the glaucoma you described as 'congenital" - so she was born with it - BUT it may not be something she got directly from a parent ..may not be ..... congenital is not automatically hereditary , AFAIK.
  6. Hoe disappointing - and expensive - and painful for your dog .. is the breeder is registered with their state's canine council ? did the pups come with pedigree papers/ what is the problem with her leg exactly ? Is it a common thing in that breed ? legally - it will depend on what the breeder;s status is - backyard/puppy farm/ registered with some pet dog breeding thingy, or an ANKC breeder .
  7. I've only ever had them with dogs having that thick undercoat - like labs/sheps/newfs Humidity will work WITH the bacteria ... so clean & dry & aerated is good :) Don't forget to use grooming tools with NO sharp points - and disinfect them, so you don't spread the bugs . raw diet sounds a good plan :) Good luck with it .Oh - I second betadine - both the scrub, and leave- on solution .
  8. I thought that may have been the case , and am glad tara is now settled :) It's still funny though ;)
  9. They defiantly do! But I want the water I use on my lawn to be 100% effective. What is a euro? Do you have wild European cars in the outback!? LOL euro There are four sub species of the Euro. M.r. robustus, Eastern Australia, QLD, NSW and north eastern Victoria. M.r. woodwardi, North Western Australia, Kimberly, WA and Arnhem land NT. M.r. Isabellinus, is restricted to Barrow Island, WA. M.r. erubescens, distrubution into most states of Australia excluding Victoria and Tasmania. Each sub species differs in physical colour and size. Size - head and body length 1110-1985mm, tail length 535-900mm. Weight 7-60kg males. 6-28kg females. look here
  10. mind you - any lawn needs lots of water! :) We have an old buffalo lawn , which I have to water & water to keep up with the grazing kangaroos, rabbits & euros!! :p
  11. It's not suspicious ... but also not clear ;) if you had said that you were thinking of getting XYZ dog - what health problems do these breeds suffer from , and can they be fixed/managed ...:)' /> Standards, and minis may also differ
  12. looking so good! i would think if she were going to have a reaction to clipping it would have happened by now ?
  13. Hi :) Is this research associated with school/uni/advertising , or just your own interest?
  14. it is doable - however , 7 days every week , it is your responsibilty to accompany the dog outside for training, toileting & exercise . Your unit needs to be safe - any barking ,etc will need to be addressed ,and it is a whole new lifestyle ;)
  15. :) she is such a sweet girl around humans - but her nickname is 'piranha'- she is deadly if she feels at all threatened by any creature . pint sized- but ferocious! hence her name - given her as a very tiny baby .... ;)
  16. full of dog bed washing , the big barrow was " little Bitch"'s choice when she came home tonight.... :) (she is Don's mum and had been mustering goats up hill & down dale )
  17. yes A chiropractor - walking on a collar instead of a harness - walking with another dog - walk in a totally different area - ok - something else. What if he is driven a couple blocks away from home .. a route he knows - and set off to walk home ??
  18. it does really sound as if he may have a pain issue , and I agree with the suggestion of a chiropractor visit :)
