Thanks folks - It's only about 2 split hrs out of Clive's day , and he gets to stay out & play with whoever else is outside/be a dog /roll in stuff/play with the hose... , something he doesn't get to do much . Apart from that all is the same , but with more playtime/treats when he IS with me. Bobbin is definitely staying - and yes, managing the two is high priority ! I do not want anyone injured!! I have seen a lot worse - but she is not playing, either. We have a routine - everyone knows it , and it seems to be working ok

She would still attack, I think - she spits & carries on thru a screen door , if the dogs are outside & come near the doors ...A crate/pen may just give her a captive audience . I will try introductions again - they have been in a room together several times with no action - some distance apart ..I think, with time, things will improve. If not, it is what it is .Tallie was never best friends with him - they'd "play" chasey...but she would also bop him wheenever the mood took her .

Bobbin-cat recently joined my life/household. She is responsible for a large chunk of my heart ! She is also Aggro towards dogs . I knew this when I adopted her - but seeing as in this house no dog sleeps indoors at night, made the decision anyway . As it turns out - she will tolerate (as in, not try & kill) dogs who are tethered indoors, and under supervision ! As soon as they are released- Oops! That experiment will not be repeated Poor Clive. The thing is - Does Clive need more attention now I am spending extra time with Bobbin during the day as well? he gets to spend a couple of hours more outside with other dogs instead of sleeping under the table or alongside my desk , while Bobbin gets to have free reign of the house instead of two rooms and her enclosure ....and we have playtime Cat playtime is easy and fun I am playing actively with him a bit more - and he is actually asking for play , which is a Very Good Thing ! he brings me a toy to throw /hide.That's about the extent of my play as my legs don't work all that well these days . I take him in the car as usual between houses/to the river etc -, and hold his paw while we watch a TV program , but am just wondering if he is missing out badly ...he gets extra bones, too. I feel bad - but I AM a cat person

Good to read labs can indeed be full-on - protein or not! Well done on the waiting-at-door- training! -
Question for breeders around puppy health
persephone replied to JewelC's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
This. Allergies are often from what is inhaled/eaten , so allergy testing is the fastest way to find the cause! I am so sorry you appear to have a 'problem puppy' - it must be so hard watching him is discomfort . -
..and tend to recommend the food they stock/sell .

Reverse sneezing appearing after nose bleed
persephone replied to giraffez's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh, I am so sorry . Not the news you wanted, not at all. Older dogs often get tumours - the hard part is when they are in inaccessible areas I doubt the vets have anything to stop the nosebleeds- but ask them if there is anything even that can lessen his anxiety Nosebleeds are scary , and you will be constantly watching and worrying . I am remembering back to when this boy was a baby , and you were learning - it seems we have fast-forwarded to now ! So many memories and experiences packed into those years for you....so much love, so many wet-nosed kisses. -
A bit depressed/sleeping a lot, and diarrhoea all point to a puppy who is unwell. Four days is a long time , he should see a vet , Pups dehydrate quickly, and other things can gain a foothold. Doesn't matter if he's a pointer or a mixed breed. The vet may suggest a bland diet such as boiled chicken/rice for a few days, then GRADUALLY ease into whatever you want to feed. Canned food can often cause loose stools. Hopefully some meds will also be prescribed. It is so easy for youngsters to pick up bugs .

My Vote would be for a papillon ..smart, but cuddly , very appealing lookswise, EXTREMELY tactile, and the couple I've known have been solid as. Big dog in a small, delightfully attractive body.

You are doing well - keep fluids up and best of luck at the vets tomorrow .

LOVE that family portrait - it must make your hearts feel SO full, seeing those sorts of results Well Done .

Look at those smiles - they look as though their life is THE BEST -
Breed should have nothing to do with it She is most unfortunate to have such a problem, and I would also advise seeing a vet so you can find out what is going on. Video what happens when she walks/runs- to show the vet ...and it may be a good plan to buy a couple of ramps for use with the car/couch etc . Have you asked her breeder at all ?

Is Don ...is making The Boss cranky!
-
..and this morning, I was lucky to spot the dorper sheep before old Don! he has a habit of tearing off after them I have been slack , and his recall while minus distraction is perfect - otherwise is non-existent - and he LOVES rounding up the sheep (or trying to bring ONE home) he would have made a decent worker probably . BUT - his mum was/is useless. Thankfully I had a longline handy , and it was clipped on before he realised ;) he is good on the longline, even with Rudoph Rollator ..he knows not to pull too hard , or run circles ;) & we had a reasonable walk anyway Oh - and in a direction AWAY from the sheep ;)

I love the mornings when my 'pack' has a run. Black, white, red merle, blue merle, solid red, all in a dusty blur as they kick up the red sand and fill the air with yips and barks . The youngster gets tackled by the others, and is on the ground in a scuffle , his scruff being pulled in two directions! Someone is rolling luxuriously in a patch of smelly dirt , and someone else is busy emptying his bladder onto a small bush. There is a blur of red as the two girls play speed racers along the track , coming to a skidding halt in the shade, and both going frog-legged in a shady spot , tongues lolling and a wide grin on their faces. I am mugged by an old boy seeking treats - showing me that he DOES remember how to lie down, and wait to eat when told ....and that , aside from that he is just wonderful...then a few more noses appear, sniffing hopefully The youngster is up & running , being tackled, this time by three adults - and there is such a joyous scuffle! Every so often someone comes & checks on me , then goes back to the game, or ranges a way away to sniff a pile of rabbit droppings, or leave their own mark . When we head back to the house everyone is happy , no one complains - and the day is off to a good start. I am not one for 'training'.. as a hobby or whatever - I just enjoy being around dogs as they do their thing

Flea and tick medications are killing our dogs
persephone replied to asal's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It is so scary We are very fortunate here - no ticks , and only the rabbit fleas in Summer to worry about (permethrin sprays or locally dabbed on malawsh) Advantage for puppies with no ill effects . I think I would be a panicky dog owner if I lived in a tick area -

Kennel cough. Codeine not really helping cough
persephone replied to fiveplusone's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm with Sandgrubber . KC is an irritation of the trachea mainly, and bronchioles - and so has a dry irritating cough , usually mucous free. Antibiotics may mean he has a chest infection on top of/stemming from , the KC , as mucous also suggests. I'd possibly be checking with the vet again , mentioning the muck he's coughing up. -
I don't understand this ? What does only having 2 litters do with their hormones?
-
Oh wow! WELCOME, JINX !! You will have a ball living with this lot (and just look at how those kids have shot up! !! ) isn't he wonderful Now there'll be mischief LOL
-
How are you getting him to drink, which is much more important than feeding? I also suggest a vet check ...

How Excitement! ( plus you get audiobook-listening time ;) ) I love Crumpet-the-camel!! Looks as though you'll be a very bust lady ...what with the two places. Exotics will make it a bit more interesting

health issues desexing a female dog later in life
persephone replied to lis84's topic in General Dog Discussion
If there's an increase in the risk of cancer (AFAIK)it would be because of her age in general, not because of her being speyed.
