  1. DDD- such a sad time - you've been there, done that - now it's your special boy .Hoping for a positive report from the specialist for you - while I will gently remind you about that which you know ..but which is hard to apply . Remember , with life, it's quality over quantity ...for everyone .
  2. I hope when you get the behaviourist home visit you will be able to understand what's happening :) You and your husband may have really scared her by being stern/angry when she toileted indoors or something - and it may take a long while for her to feel comfortable. Just a thought....
  3. Just as long as you are sure this breeder has good dogs - has done all/any relevant health checks of the parents ! Also, I guess you've researched the breeder's prefix name/other dogs which may have been shown/used for breeding etc . regular contact is a good thing !!. Will the breeder support you after you get the pup - be available to chat /email if you have questions ? :) I hope you have also discussed what happens if the pup arrives ill - or has some hereditary problem ?
  4. :) Dazed& confused is right! Glad the big brothers were there :)
  5. Yes - I love his sandy schnozz - but it is looking a bit piggy ;)
  6. A couple of our workers have broken a toe - kept working ..and just had a crooked toe ...
  7. and the dynamic duo adore 'going to the beach'
  8. I think there can be a hereditary factor, yes.
  9. sounds as if she only knows one way Find a groomer who will clip as you request :)
  10. perhaps the bed isn't comfortable/thick/soft enough? what is the temperature? was she checked to ensure no puppies were left ? is everything else normal?
  11. I use colloidal silver for lots of things, incl. eyes :)
  12. Oh Dear! there is having a dog rush past you ...and there is just standing there, even patting the dog as it wanders past you and out!! I hope there is some educational input as part of the job training !!
  13. Of course they know :) dogs are amazingly good at reading the smallest of cues .
  14. Ok . What I would suggest ...I have done this on a couple of occasions - with adults - but pups should be easier ? For a few days - EVERY bite of food/drink of water(or use lactose free milk as an incentive) comes from a HUMAN HAND - either holding a bowl, or offering food piece by piece. Obviously you will need to remove water bowls - and make sure Spud has access often . My biggest success was a kelpie bitch we were given . She was described as "not responsive "/won't listen/can't work her ... . She had come from nice people . Lived mostly in a very nice run , alongside other dogs - had a warm coat for Winter - food & water available . the trouble was- humans had no meaning for her - she had everything she needed :) So - for a few days of intense re programming- she was confined /walked on lead/ offered food /water at regular intervals from my hand ONLY . There was nothing else available . She was loved & praised for making contact of any sort .... We had her for about 10 yrs after that - she was so friendly and was a brilliant worker (sheep dog) - tho she did have a few foibles ;)
  15. Dogs can indeed be 'wired wrong' ... what it is named, I have no idea . I have also seen puppies after a birth where they needed reviving- as they grew, they were definitely different - brain damaged due to lack of oxygen.
  16. She has been in care for a while - and they know her inside out by now :) She also looks 'macho' enough to appeal to the male point of view
  17. :) I am not a fan of spoiled and 'prissy' poodles myself - but I have also seen them scruffy and thoroughly getting down&dirty ;)
  18. I know you are asking about buying a puppy - and I know she's interstate - BUT LOLLY
  19. "not a poodle person" may I ask why not? Poodles are smart - and brought/trained like a dog , are resilient, loving and wonderful. they love people , IMO. The haircut - that can be whatever style you want!! You can have an all over clip - or a cute all over shaggy :) friends have had poodles in the country - these rode on the back of motorbikes- accepted other animals into the menagerie- were good with the kids ... :) Attitude of owners ,and an understanding of whatever breed is chosen goes an awful long way to getting the dog you want ;) You are doing a terrific job in researching and discussing :)
  20. I have only just realised how BIG she is :) Beautiful and lucky girl.
