  1. I wish they would at least give a reason .....
  2. Oh Dear - someone will receive extra firearms training , methinks!
  3. County Sheriff Todd Godwin insists that he charged the two PETA workers with larceny. The prosecutor has apparently refused to pursue the case, however, citing insufficient evidence of "criminal intent." Let's try to comprehend this: we have a home surveillance video clearly demonstrating that a van marked "PETA" pulled up to the house of Wilbur Cerate, and that someone took the family's chihuahua, Maya. PETA has reportedly admitted that Maya was killed: they arrived later with a basket of fruit as compensation, says Maya's owner. (For some bizarre reason, PETA thinks that a nice basket of food makes killing pets okay.) Hence, we have what we are told is pretty strong evidence that a crime was committed. An admission of guilt has been alleged. What part of the notion "criminal intent" am I missing here? We also seem to have powerful evidence that the girl who owned Maya is inconsolable. The New York Daily News reports:
  4. Uhmmm? No one told that to my 10 yr old Lab. Don't Say That. EVER AGAIN. ;) ;) once a habit is ingrained, and pleasureable ... ;) As long as he has 'his spot' it should be OK.
  5. Nystagmus ? the eye movement ? Vestibular disease, possibly - or a stroke ? Did the vet mention Vestibular disease? It might pay to phone/visit & ask him . there have been a few posts on here with DOL dogs who have had it - the symptoms fit .
  6. poor old girl - is there a dog chiro somewhere you can get to ? That would be my first thought ...
  7. ha! Chi's have a very annoying bark when they get going :)
  8. Contact Dogs NSW? There are a few people with similar probs at present, it seems .
  9. I would never recommend electric containment for a baby puppy . is there a reason why you cannot make a pen/section of yard with solid or netting? A fence like this also offers protection for a toddler as well - and if netting is small, or tin is used - snakes may be stopped ! a good solid (not soft) crate will be invaluable :) Good thinking :) I really do think a separate 'safe area ' needs be created :) I remember when we we little (also rural) dad fenced off an area off the kitchen ... where we could be relatively safe , but still closely supervised. it was lawn - with a peach tree, some roses ... dogs & kids all loved it :)
  10. My first dog for which I was mostly responsible was a mini foxie - I was about 7 at the time . She saw me thru my school years - and my first dog as an almost adult was a miniX wirehaired dachshund ....Both dogs were tough, and loyal, and , living bush, had plenty of outlet for their energy/hunting instincts .
  11. more important than changing food , at this point is that you KNOW the breeder is one who has done all relevant health tests of the parents - that the pup's 'family' have been good sound dogs , and that the breeder's prefix can be found where dogs have been assessed as being terrific examples of the breed!
  12. Uncle Albers is a very cheap food - we used it for years for our working sheepdogs . I am presuming your breeder is registered with Dogs SA ..and has been researched checked out by you ?;)
  13. Have a read of this it may help ? https://www.flickr.c...57633707501537/ https://www.flickr.com/groups/1418686@N25/discuss/72157628026317903/
  14. TENA or POISE incontinence pads would work best - as they are deisgned to absorb quantities of urine almost instantly , unlike menstrual pads . you won't need ones with a huge capacity most of the time - so maybe the liners which hold the most ?
  15. aaah, those brown adorable lab eyes ............ they hide a thousand little evils ;)
  16. ivermectin will certainly help . I use probiotics, iron supplements ,and LOTS of good quality food - as much fresh as possible ..and a good variety :)
