  1. perhaps contact cosmolo , or erny - they are both melb. based DOLers who are professional in the dog/human training field :)
  2. ;) bowen FIRST , for the injury ..THEN sort the ears out later was what I read . how does Bowen work ? does this help It is a system of subtle and precise mobilizations called "Bowen moves" over muscles, tendons, nerves and fascia. The moves are performed using the thumbs and fingers applying only gentle, non invasive pressure. A treatment consists of a series of specific sequences of moves called procedures, with frequent pauses to allow time for the body to respond.
  3. Oh Yes :) Bowen if you can find it :) It is muscle based ..and I've seen it do wonders on humans :)
  4. vague vets are worse than someone who says "Sorry , can't help with this - maybe go see vet x " My suggestion is to feed a bland hard biscuit or two late at night . I have had this problem with one of my dogs - and it never happened again :) I used the bonio things - a couple of them ...
  5. magnesium plus calcium aids in relaxing nerves/muscles .... not at all sure of dose , sorry .... if you have a decent health food /pharmacy - get yourself some magnesium colloid liquid ..and rub a small amount onto skin . You only need a fraction of a teaspoon .... it is useful for human cramps/stress as well :)
  6. :) make outside a GOOD place :) special toys and bones etc ......same with the crate! Something chewy or cuddly or delicious .....
  7. Were he mine - I would concentrate on the neck injury for now , and not use those drops until the neck is better. I would also use flexible heat wraps on his neck , as well as regular dosing with a rescue remedy . I would probably also be using a magnesium/calcium supplement , and putting a drop of lavender oil on his collar/bed to aid in relaxation. I have Devils Claw capsules here which I open, and give the powder according to weight for pain/inflammation . I hope the poor boy gets some relief - then so can you :)
  8. *sigh* those first two are just magical ........... lovely work :)
  9. pizza? chinese ?chips& gravy ?sausage & egg ? bacon sarnie?
  10. she is a baby . keep her on a flat collar & lead - TRAINING is what will get her to focus more on you .Very short sessions - 5 minutes or so , repeated often to start with will help her learn without frustration :) Dogs learn thru their sense of smell .She is learning about her world .It is unfair to stop this without offering a reward of sorts .A tiny food treat may be used when she has her head up A lot of collar/lead training can be done at home .. up & down the corridor- in teh yard .. up & down the driveway ..until it becomes a very normal and accepted thing.THEN move on out - when you both are understanding each other better :) you might enjoy watching these videos:) and treading this . 11. Oh , gosh - it was a throwaway comment - possibly part of a remark made between an older vet & client who knew each other well enough - (and such things DO get said , believe me ...just not inappropriately) . Certainly the neighbour would have been wiser to have not passed it on to someone sensitive . Not sure why you want to 'investigate further' though - what on earth would that gain you ? You have enough battles of your own ..... What would I think of the vet ? That would depend a lot on what our relationship was like , how he was at treating my animals - and how he normally addressed problems .
  12. He may not have had experience with puppies - and is very unsure of them?
  13. thank you - she was very popular with visitors , and used to con spare sandwiches & cakes from the gullible ones ;)
  14. DD- I guess it's like any old animal - as the body winds down , eating becomes sporadic ..and gradually lessens - :hugs:
  15. Hi, and welcome :) Are you sending your dog for boarding/training because you are going away , or is it to have the dog trained ? is the dog a problem at home ?
  16. apologies if I've already posted this . recently I helped Caillie over the bridge . Her Boss was away , , so I also gave her a proper burial with an old sheep yard gate , and wagon wheel on her grave. She was well into her teen years, and her system was just breaking down - tho she was only really "ill/in pain" for about 24 hrs , thankfully . Deaf, almost blind , and very wobbly - she still had a hearty appetite , and was happy to woof along with the pack - even if she didn't know why. I so hope she has has lots of humans to cadge sandwiches from , over that bridge :) this was taken in March - when she was shetlering in the porch during a thunderstorm ...
  17. oh So sorry you have lost him , but I am also happy that he was very ill just for a short time .
