  1. maybe make her an iceblock or two ? get an icecream container // 3/4 fill it with water ..and stir in a smidgin of a stock liquid or powder- just a very little . slice/chop some apple/carrot/a little coconut, and mix into teh water . add several pieces of kibble she likes, and a few small treat things - whatever she normally has :) Freeze overnight, and leave for her.
  2. he may well have an infection now - Vet visit first thing sounds a plan for now ....... darn dewclaws .... when they go wrong , they do so properly .
  3. One who 'does' a lot of whelping too. Agreed with this. I imagine any old vet wouldnt know too much about this as its not too common. Hmmm..way back in a previous life, we had enquiries from folks going on holidays , or shows ..and , yes, the vet prescribed a hormone which, as soon as it was stopped , let the bitch come into season - so not suitable for this situation. ..as he just wants her to NOT cycle for 12 mths or so ....
  4. The best idea would be to speak with a vet, methinks ?
  5. denali - the pants don't really work all that well ...
  6. Sorry - didn't realise he was short a dog ...

  8. he can always do what we have done forever - lock the bitch in a floored/roofed pen with supervised exercise , for 6 weeks a year . Surely he can manage for that short time?y brother's dogs can be worked with in season bitches for short times ..they know to concentrate on work , luckily. Accidents do happen .... with silent seasons..breakdown of security - but all in all - the locking away of a bitch does work.
  9. This is a hard one .... I'm sorry you need to think about it .
  10. worrying - hope all is well this morning - and perhaps suggest to your folks that it may work out cheaper to let her inside, away from nasties ;)
  11. So - has he twisted the nail off the nailbed? twisted the whole claw?Did it bleed much? i don't quite understand , sorry. if he's reasonably happy , I go with what the vet said . I agree with you - if he needs a GA .. is there anything else which could be done as well, perhaps? teeth/ear clean ... ? Our working dogs often do dewclaws ..and depending how loose they get , I have found that a really good run on thick grass , where the dog is fanatically chasing a toy/prey/another dog may help ;) They nail gets caught, adrenaline stops any pain ..and bingo :) then all that's needed is keeping it clean until it heals. ( we are a LONG way from a vet ..and our dogs are tough - and strong)
  12. For those who just want to do a general edit of their jpeg images - don't want to pay for a program . and want something which has an easy -to-follow- range of adjustment tools - I will recommend the WINDOWS PHOTO GALLERY program. I take RAW and jpeg - usually only edit/post jpeg ..and LOVE this way of doing things (not everyone is able to understand lightroom & photoshop..or at least I hope I'm not alone ) Anyhow - don't panic about "editing"/post processing . It almost always NEEDS doing - and doesn't cost anything - and can be fun . Just don't overdo things - and undo/redo as much as possible !! I am no pro - just amateur ..and not technical . The images I've included are just to show how 30 seconds and 3 adjustments (contrast/highlights/straighten ) can affect an image .Original is the top one .iphone shot from this morning . http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows-live/photo-gallery does it work now?
  13. Ours have always been fed once daily .
  14. have you checked your bank to see if that money was withdrawn ? I have been caught .... fretted and worried - but on checking my bank transactions, found the money was credited back to me , cos I put a number wrong! ;)
  15. thank you very much ....I was also thinking late yesterday when my iphone went missing ..can't blame the old girl anymore . She used to take stuff to her kennel - phones/jackets/lunchboxes....
  16. Glad the chooks are now part of the pack :)
