  1. *sigh* I shouldn't have even commented - however , does anyone have any facts/numbers on teh likelihood of a dobeX lab pup having a naturally occuring 'dobe' short tail?
  2. ..exactly how much does this wee doggy have in his piggy bank???? if he has LOTS - then this looks excellent! LINK excerpt
  3. if the cats weigh more than a tiny dog - he may well miss out!
  4. a cat enclosure ..outdoors? Locking cats in one or two rooms during the day? Tricky. as for an indoor loo - for urine, I heartily recommend the Conni Pet pads!! they are terrific - VERY absorbent ...not unsightly ..and easily washed/dried quickly .
  5. ..and please do not feed them together - a new puppy will more than likely go investigate, as she did with mum or littermates - and your dog will be within its rights to snap at her ! Don't encourage this - feed them out of sight of each other to avoid any hassles :) It is good for puppy to learn to eat alone .... :)
  6. I find it a bit odd that you have watched this collapse on several occasions , and not sought a vet's opinion ... Once would be enough for me! How old is this dog?
  7. poor lexie has had this for so long - it would be good to find someone who can help!! yes.
  8. Tallie is an indoor only girl - apart from her outdoor enclosure , which she uses only rarely! It is a lovely enclosure ... she prefers sleeping on my bed ;) Only old cats are allowed free range ....
  9. Mc Dowells have a vet on staff - and mixtures I use are all very different . A couple of ingredients are often a base ..and yes, they smell strong . They will also provide various supplements if they think it's warranted , Last time there was a big bag full of seeds ...forget what it was ... Hands-on? No . Chewie, if you can find a good hands on holistic practitioner - by all means go there! I use Mc Dowell a lot, as holistic vets/naturopaths etc are a long way away from where I live ..
  10. I suggest you phone Mcdowells- and speak with them. They may ask you to fill out a diagnostic form etc. They tailor mixtures to suit individual cases..and are lovely caring people . Can't help you with any others, sorry.
  11. he just doesn't stay still!! :)
  12. She shows signs - but has she been diagnosed? Could it be something else? if you do not have a diagnosis - as pepe001 mentioned - hypoglycaemia is a possibility . Friends had a dog behave in a similar fashion - took a while to get a correct diagnosis :)
  13. Wondering about this - the running into his crate does sound as if there is some sort of nasty memory /expectation . have you tried the following ? doing a different routine when it's walk time? using a different leash/collar , which jingles differently ? gone thru another door? have a car parked just outside- and go straight into the car? start putting leash on during/just before meals - don't do anything ..just clip it on , so that at least has a good connotation again for him :) walk the are without your dog . feel the ground, listen for odd noises, look for things , sniff the air low down ... if you can, stop & sit ..and listen/feel... have you driven him somewhere different and walked him? if you are walking alongside roads ..be aware that a faceful of exhaust fumes is one of the best deterrents there is Dogs are, unfortunately at the right level - and when someone is reversing out a driveway, or you are , for some reason, walking with the traffic flow , instead of against it - there is a risk of noise/fumes/burning . His feet would need to be very soft to worry about hard ground - it's hot manhole covers and soft black asphalt which are the dangers. have you had heavy rain? I have seen dogs spooked' after walking over drains/pipes thru which water rushes - they hear it underneath, and it can be very unsettling.
  14. ouch ! I guess it depends if you need to know exactly what's happening - a vet /dog chiro may well be able to diagnose without Xrays . She might be more comfy with a boot or bandage when walking ... ask the professional you see :)
  15. get a good harness- and advice on how to fit it snugly :)
  16. Love it!! Thankyou . Speedy little beast
  17. Crates are NOT meant for puppies to live in - they are OK for night time ..and OK for when you are doing stuff inside and cannot watch puppy - but they are NOT an all day prison. if you cannot stop the kelpie getting into her pen .. then leave the pen indoors away from the kelpie ... be aware though - now Pup has been free range outside - crate training will take time . She will want to be with Archie, and will not understand why she is now confined .... it is TRAINING - not just shutting the door ... It is very unfair, and defeats the purpose, if a baby pup is left in a crate for hours - they just cannot hang on for that long! Remy needs the pen or somewhere during the day - so she can run and play ...
  18. I think I'll take bets on what he'll grow into! ;) ;)
  19. :) she is now learning toileting outside . Good . She is learning that being part of a dog pack outside is a better choice than being inside . Hmmmm... It is your choice - you want her outside ? OK - seems she is very happy to do so. I will suggest food be given indoors - several meals in the kitchen or somewhere ...so she is happy to come in. Find her very favourite toy /food and spend one- on -one time with her - just playing - doing early training. Put your other dog in his crate/pen/room with a special treat . The dogs need to learn to be alone ;) It takes time ...
  20. @ 5 wks ... there is a greenish tint to the eyes ....and more fluff!
  21. Vet check first - to make sure all is in working order. Then. offer one type of food only .. put meal down ..leave 10 minutes ,and collect bowl NO treats/other food until next mealtime . Repeat . It may take a couple of days. If he likes human grade meat - then there's your answer :) feed a mix of soft bones/meat :) Once he is eating well.. experiment with some yoghurt /eggs/sardines /cheese.... Not sure what he was intolerant to in the proplan - but chicken frames are great food , also turkey necks and wings (whole), as are lamb necks (WHOLE) pig head halves, pig tails, oxtails, chicken feet , tripe, lamb flaps , beef brisket bones ... heart, kidney, small amount of liver , brains ....he doesn't need much, if any , pasta/rice..and only a little vegetable/fruit .
