  1. This FB GROUP often has such questions posed & answered ...
  2. IF you are doing this to get a 'free' dog .... you may be in for much more than you bargained ;) As I know not a big deal of showing , etc ... No way would I seek care of someone's dog .The worry of keeping it healthy, fit, and , yes, in "show condition' would take away a lot of my enjoyment . I would also worry about dogs escaping /having accidents , etc . That's just my view - best of luck ,whatever your choice ..
  3. As normal castration is done 'outside ' ..I am not sure how any damage could be done to bladder/spine/sphincters .... I would advise seeking a second opinion , and carefully observing ALL sorts of things ..how he runs/jumps/lies down. What he drinks from , how much he drinks .......
  4. LOL@gruflife... I find poor toys all over the place - between Smoke & Don ... Yesterday, on a walk, Smoke carried his toy for 25 minutes!
  5. Welcome :) Mya is a real mix :) hard to judge at this age ... and don't rely on ears!! They can go up & down like a yo yo in youngsters ;) re: training - it's not really breed-specific ..ALL breeds/dogs need to have training/mental and physical exercise , be housetrained , etc. ALL breeds respond to praise , need lots of practice , and consistency in the way they are taught :)
  6. keep her somewhere else ? give her her own chair?she may not like being on the floor .... Place long lengths of aluminium foil along the couch... loose- not tucked in ....
  7. Oh Dear ... wonder what other research they have not done
  8. Don't use it, and never would .... way too much chemical nasty to be injecting into a puppy all at once , IMO.
  9. I would be seeking another experienced veterinary opinion . Remember to write down /add up ALL the little things you have noticed about eating/movement/toilet training... this is not a usual thing ... best of luck.
  10. When we were kids we had a lab ???? basically, if we did suffer damage,it our fault, not hers! She was ever patient and , with ropes on, used pull my brother around in his pedal car.
  11. Of course dogs can work people out. ???? not sure about the taking food thing, but I always take note of how my dogs react to people
  12. perhaps, OP - if the age of the dog , and other info had been provided in the first post .. we would have had more to work on ;)
  13. just like a normal leash .. (we have 2 very old chain leads, with leather handle loops - one from our lab around 50 yrs ago ..and one from my terrier , around 40 yrs ago . They have seen many puppies thru the first tricky days/weeks :) )
  14. here, putting collars ON is a signal for food in the early days . first weeks on leash is a nice strong fine link chain leash - once or twice it may get mouthed ..but no habit can be formed , as it is unpleasant :) I also walk pup where it wants to go - to food bowl /outside / inside for the first few walks ...
  15. sheena - that's a very good result :)
  16. I wonder how much active ingredient is present in /obtained from, pumpkin skin eaten as food ? perhaps a dog would need to eat 1 kg to get any effect ???? :)
